Plaque Unveiling to Honor Olympic Heroine Victoria Manalo Draves on October 10
Join the National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA), in partnership
with city agencies and organizations, for a special plaque  unveiling on October
 10, at 10 a.m., in honor of Olympic heroine Victoria  Manalo Draves.  Manalo Draves
was the first American woman to win two gold medals for diving. Born in the South
of Market area, Ms. Manalo Draves attended school on the same site that would become
the neighborhood park named in her honor in 2006.  The plaque ceremony on October
10 will be held at Victoria Manalo Draves Park, located at Folsom and Sixth Street.

Tickle the Ivories at Boeddeker Park Through October 13
Let's make beautiful music in our parks! The Friends of Boeddeker Park, in partnership
with Demonstration Gardens, Sunset Pianos and Rec and Park, is hosting a special
 two-week opportunity to play and listen to the piano at Boeddeker Park in the Tenderloin
neighborhood (District 6), now through October 13.  There will be music lessons 
some days and plenty of opportunities for more accomplished players to play.  Boeddeker
Park is located at 246 Eddy Street in San Francisco.

Community Meeting on Lake Merced West on October 21

Fleet Week Softball Special at Moscone on October 8
Come out to Moscone Recreation Center and Park (1800 Chestnut) and root on US Navy,
US Marine, SFPD and SF Sheriff's men and women as they battle it out on the softball
diamond on October 8.  The day's events begin at 8 a.m. with a demonstration by 
the Academy of Art softball team, followed by softball games and appearances by 
Giants' mascot Lou Seal and the US Marine Corps Party Band.

Saturday in the Park McLaren Kids' Concert This Saturday, October 10
The October 10th Kids' Festival is a full day of activities for the little ones,
 starting at 11 a.m. with Charity and the JAMBand. The afternoon continues with 
the Alphabet Rockers and Magic Dan's fabulous magic show, followed by Charity and
the JAMband returning at 2 p.m. to close the stage. While the music plays, there
 are short hikes with Tree Frog Treks, Bubble adventures with The Excelsior Science
Workshop and the Exploratorium's Skateboard Science Trailer and 2 fun Rope Squirters.

loop trail includes beautiful views of San Francisco's wetlands providing opportunities
to see nesting bird species and native plants. Meet in front of the Lake Merced

The Storied Houses of Alamo Square Tour on October 18
The Victorian Alliance Fall House Tour
Sunday, October 18, from 1 to 5 p.m.
The Victorian Alliance of San Francisco is pleased to announce its 43rd Annual House
Tour. Splendid interiors of eight exceptional residences and a landmarked church
 will be open to guests on our self-guided walking tour of the Alamo Square Neighborhood,
still home to San Francisco's largest collection of preserved Victorians.
Visit Italianate, Queen Anne, and San Francisco Stick style homes, including a beautifully
restored Painted Lady of Postcard Row. Docents will be on hand to provide historical
background on the architects, contractors, craftsmen and the families who settled
there, and complimentary light refreshments will be served.
Prices for the tour range from $40 to $55. Discounts are available for Victorian
 Alliance members, groups of 10 or more, and for purchases made before October 10.
