NRPA and Disney Team Up to Revitalize City Parks
The National Recreation and Park Association is collaborating with the Walt Disney
Company, including Disney Citizenship, ABC Television and ESPN to revitalize parks
across the U.S. including a park here in San Francisco! One of three local parks
 will receive a $20,000 grant and you get to choose which one!

Greenagers Applications Available Now!
The San Francisco Recreation and Park Department's Greenagers program offers teens
from the southeast side of San Francisco the chance to play an important role in
 the community by improving our city's green spaces and raising awareness about 
them. Greenagers work in various parks and open spaces throughout San Francisco,
 meet regularly with Rec and Park staff, community members and partners. Participants
will meet and work with teens their own age, collaborate with other youth organizations
and gain crucial skills in facilitating workshops, networking, public speaking, 
teamwork, environmental education, and community engagement.

Bioblitz McLaren Park on April 16
Join the Nerds for Nature, California Academy of Sciences, and Save McLaren Park
 on April 16, National Citizen Science Day, for a grassroots bioblitz at McLaren
 Park in San Francisco!

In 2013, we gathered Nature Nerds, park neighbors, scientists, and amateur naturalists
all armed with the iNaturalist app to find and identify as many different species
as possible within McLaren Park.

And now we're back to search for wildlife in SF's second-largest city park.

A Bioblitz is an intensive one-day study of biodiversity in a specific location,
 bringing scientists and volunteer citizen-scientists together. Together, we'll 
look for snails, birds, mammals, frogs, butterflies, other insects, spiders, trees,
worms, flowers, and everything else we can find!

Bring your smartphone or a camera, your curiosity, and tons of enthusiasm. We'll
 rally some experts and folks who know the area. Together we'll make some science!

King's Day Celebration in Golden Gate Park on April 23
King's Day, the biggest national celebration in the Netherlands, is returning once
again to San Francisco's Golden Gate Park on April 23, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the

Giant Bunnies at Civic Center Through April 25
Mayor Edwin M. Lee with the San Francisco Arts Commission and Recreation & Parks
 recently announced that Civic Center Plaza will host Intrude, a large-scale public
artwork by artist Amanda Parer. The public artwork will activate the public space
and be available to all to enjoy 24 hours, 7 days a week, now through April 25th.
 The highly acclaimed installation features five monumental nylon rabbits that are
inflated to 23 feet high and internally lit at night.
