So the nose doctor says that we can either do what the sinus doctor and I
planned (open up the outside of my right nostril), or do something faaar
more invasive but far more likely to have awesome results, at the cost of
much more severe swelling after the surgery and maybe 1-2 days extra
recovery time.
I won't insult your intelligence by bothering to say which I picked. :-D
I'm not giving details because it's *quite* graphic, feel free to ask in
person.
It sounds like this surgery will leave me basically functional almost
immediately after all the anaesthetic wears off, except for a bunch of
bandages on my face and a strong exhortation to take it as easy as
possible. Time to bandage removal is about a week, and after that it's
business as usual except for residual swelling which will fade over the
next several months. I expect I'd work from home within a few days, and go
back to work after the bandages come off.
We do not have a schedule yet as the two doctors have to coordinate,
although I requested we hurry up about it as I'm scared I'm going to get
another infection any second.
