I have twins (preemies at 32 weeks, so I suppose actual
gestational age is only about 5 weeks, if that makes a
difference in this case). We are traveling to Florida
in 2 months. Does anyone have any advice about the best
way to travel? Do we bring car seats and check them (or
even take them on the plane, if we're allowed)? Or do
we just use Ergo/Baby Bjorn on our laps? I'd prefer not
to have to pay for extra seats if possible. I have no
idea how to do this. Thanks!

Hi Bonnie, We just returned from a 12 day trip to
Atlanta then Lima, Peru with our twin girls who just
turned one. Since our girls are older than your twins
I'm not sure if all of my advice will apply but we
learned ALOT on those trips so happy to share. We
decided to buy an extra seat for one of the girls and
especially at their age we highly recommend this. Since
your twins are so little they may just sleep through
the flight so on laps might work just fine and yes,
will also save money which is great and... a short
lived perk. Since we had the extra seat we did carry on
one car seat which helped a lot because we rotated the
girls when they slept or when one of us just needed a
break- bathroom or otherwise. We gate checked both the
stroller and the other car seat so we had it with us
until we boarded which helped to carry both the girls
and our carry on bags until we were on board. We waited
to board last in order to limit the time spent on the
plane(s) and the staff and crew were all really helpful
with the gate check transition. We brought one ergo
baby assuming it would be invaluable but never ended up
using it- either in flight or at either destination-
but again, this may be different for you. I feel like
we used the ergo carriers a lot more when the girls
were younger. Other travel essentials that you may or
may not already know:try to schedule your flights
around nap times ie: early morning flights and red
eyes are best. That way you can feed them upon take off
(totally necessary with pressure changes) and they
ideally nap right afterwards. This actually did work
for us on all 4 flights... Also make sure that you
change them right before you board- you should use the
restroom as well right beforehand-- because trying to
change them in the airplane is very
challenging/impossible and... if they are dry and full
once you feed them upon take off they are more likely
to sleep and longer. Those are most of my tips but
please feel free to reach out if you have any
questions, Have a great trip and enjoy!!

3. Updated: New and Expectant Parents Group Meeting

lesdeux - 2/10/2016 1:00 pm
Meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each
month, from 1-2:30pm. Meetings are held at Calvary
Presbyterian Church at 2515 Fillmore Street (between
Pacific and Jackson). Enter the church to the right of
the main entrance with all the stairs, which has a ramp
that will lead to double doors. Enter and you'll see an
elevator straight ahead. Take the elevator to the 3rd
floor, exit and walk all the way back past the
bathrooms to the Nursery.Parking: There is 2-hour
street parking on neighboring streets and metered
parking on Fillmore (hit or miss, but I can usually
find a spot within 10 minutes). There is a parking
garage (CPMC garage) on Clay between Webster and
Buchanan in case you can't find parking elsewhere. It's
a few blocks away but it's an option. We welcome all
expecting and new parents with multiples under one year
of age. Come alone, with your partner, and/or your
babies. You may also bring the helping hands of
friends, nannies, and grandparents. Should you run out
of helping hands we have many more ready to help out.
The New and Expectant Parents Group is an ideal place
to gain invaluable twin parenting advice, an
opportunity to ask many questions, to see how other
parents cope with more than one baby, a place to laugh,
to cry, to rejoice, and to share proud and scary
moments in our step-by-step journey into parenthood of
multiples. You must be a member to attend regularly.
Prospective members may attend one meeting before
joining. You can contact the moderator at

H there, A little late but... we also bought an
UppaBaby Vista from Right Start and LOVE it! We had
registered at Right Start and they have a nice
selection of strollers- maybe 3 different options for
twins. Giggle on Chestnut Street is also a good option
for stroller try outs. Good luck!Kim
