Beacon Trail Opening on July 14
Join Supervisor Scott Wiener, the Friends of Walter Haas Park and Rec and Park for
a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, July 14 at 3 p.m., celebrating the new Beacon
Trail that connects Walter Haas Park to Billy Goat Hill. The $147,000 project was
funded by the Open Space Fund and connects the two parks with 680 feet of new trail,
including 120 feet of newly installed box steps.

Street Soccer USA Cup Comes to Union Square July 16-17
Join SF Rec/Park and Street Soccer USA for this one-of-a-kind 4v4 Street Soccer
festival in the heart of Union Square. Sixty-four teams will compete over two days
to be crowned Best in the Bay. Sunday includes a celebrity soccer match with SJ
Earthquakes Star Chris Wondolowski. All proceeds from the Street Soccer USA Cup
support free programs for at-risk youth and homeless young adults in San Francisco.

Summer Play Day & Baseball for All Tournament Kickoff on July 23
Celebrate summer and the start of the second annual Baseball for All Girls Baseball
Tournament in San Francisco at our Summer Play Day event on Saturday, July 23, from

New Registration System Launching this Fall
This fall, Rec and Park will be introducing a new registration system. In order
to register for fall classes, you must create a new account. This new system will
be faster and more reliable, feature a new wish list function, is mobile-ready,

Community Volunteer Event at Potrero del Sol Park on July 14
Join us for a community volunteer event at Potrero del Sol Park on Thursday, July
14, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and help clean up the garden and prepare for next
month's compost bin and garden bed projects. The National Recreation and Park Association
(NRPA), in partnership with The Walt Disney Company, have teamed up to help revitalize
and restore local parks across the country. Potrero del Sol was one of 15 projects
selected to receive $20,000 in a national Parks Build Community campaign. For more
