Summer Play Day & Baseball for All Tournament Kickoff on July 23
Celebrate summer and the start of the second annual Baseball for All Girls Baseball
Tournament in San Francisco at our Summer Play Day event on Saturday, July 23, from
11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Kezar Stadium in Golden Gate Park. FREE! featuring kids activities,
sports, games, carnival rides, entertainment and food for sale. Check out the tournament
parade as teams from around the country prepare to meet in a week-long competition
featuring high-qaulity girls youth baseball.

SF Rec and Park celebrates NRPA's Park and Recreation Month in July!  From volunteer
events, the Beacon Trail opening and the Baseball for All Girls Baseball Tournament,

Warriors are Golden at Potrero Hill Rec Center
The San Francisco Recreation and Park Department welcomed members of the Golden 
State Warriors organization for a volunteer event at Potrero Hill Recreation Center
on July 20.
The event, part of the Warriors' Helping Hands Employee Volunteer Program, focused
on cleanup and beatification efforts at the popular recreation center, including
 clearing ivy along fences, planting new trees and shrubs, and a deep cleaning of
the playground. Volunteers also assembled school supply gift baskets for San Francisco
Unified School District teachers.
During the past year, Warriors staff have collectively volunteered more than 2,100
hours of their time around the Bay Area. Over the past three years, they have partnered
with Recreation and Park's volunteer program on beautification projects at Gilman
Playground, McLaren Park, Bayview Park and Golden Gate Park here in the City.
Each year, volunteers spend 187,000 hours of their time improving San Francisco 
parks and playgrounds.

Hoops Champs Relish Visit to City Hall
Mayor Ed Lee greeted the winners of his inaugural 3-on-3 Youth Basketball Tournament
in his City Hall office on July 19. The tournament, which ran through June and July,
wrapped up this past weekend at Kezar Pavilion. In the city department division,
 the San Francisco Fire Department's PIO team narrowly defeated Rec and Park's team
in a tight match-up that went down to the wire.

New Registration System Launching this Fall
This fall, Rec and Park will be introducing a new registration system. In order 
to register for fall classes, you must create a new account. This new system will
be faster and more reliable, feature a new wish list function, is mobile-ready, 
and allows access to purchase aquatics passes and program memberships. For more

Baseball for All Tournament Play Begins July 24
Games for the 2016 Baseball for All Girls Baseball Tournament begin at 9 a.m. on
 Sunday, July 24, at Moscone Recreation Center (1800 Chestnut Street). Come out 
and root on girls from across the country as they vie for this year's championship.
A special T-Ball game for girls, ages 4-7, will also be held on July 24 at Moscone
from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Older players from the tournament will mentor and coach
teams. Gloves will be available.
