Hi there. Like many moms' experience here, my twins
slept in their vibrating chairs a LOT in the early
months. They slept through the night in those chairs
MANY times, as both had acid reflux and had to remain
elevated for 20-30 minutes after feedingsIt would be
helpful to begin your transition to the crib, as baby's
necks are rounded and compressed when sleeping
elevated, and this presents a small hazard of airway
obstruction. So the more they get used to laying flat,
the better. It's great to begin this transition with
short naps, and while you transition, if you can be in
the room with them during those naps, all the better.
The more comfortable they get in their cribs, the
easier things will be for you down the road. Luckily,
they will always have company, which may make it easier
than for a singleton :)Regarding schedules, I highly
recommend the book A Contented House with Twins. It's
available via Amazon, in print or for Kindle. Written
by a British pediatric nurse and a funny mom of twins,
with lots of schedules for every age. Schedules can go
into great detail, but that's because it assumes the
reader is caring for twins alone and may want it all
spelled out. The outline and general recommendations
for each age may be enough, and the schedules are very
valuable, even if you only use them as a rough
framework (that's how we used the book, as well as a
friend who's also a mom of twins). It was difficult for
us to follow the routines to the letter, but our
existing routine ended up being pretty close, so we
just tried to adopt the good ideas for things we
weren't doing yet, and work the routine around our
family schedule and our boys' idiosyncrasies. I'd be
happy to chat with you about any of it if you like. You
may want to read the intro chapters, and then skip
ahead to the routines for your twins' age range.
