Holiday Ice Rink at Union Square Open Now!
The Safeway Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square, presented by Alaska Airlines, a San
Francisco holiday tradition, kicks off the holiday season tonight, November 2. The
ice rink will remain open through Monday, January 16, 2017, and will be open daily
from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., (9:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 31). Ticket prices 
for regular admission are $12 with $7 for children 8 and under. Figure skate and
 hockey skate rentals are $6.  city's most anticipated holiday events--- the annual tree lighting at McLaren Lodge

Scaregrove Provides Spooky Halloween Fun to Thousands
With dark, ominous clouds lurking overhead, thousands of kids and their parents 
descended on Stern Grove on October 28 for Rec and Park's annual Scaregrove event.
The event, one of four large seasonal, family-friendly events the department hosts
each year, regularly draws more than 5,000 visitors to the Grove, where they enjoyed
haunted houses, carnival rides, giant inflatables, hay rides, live entertainment
 and food. Supervisors Mark Farrell, Scott Wiener, Norman Yee and Katy Tang were
 on hand for the event, as were representatives from Supervisor Peskin's office.

RPD Celebrates its First Annual Volunteer Appreciation Party
Over 300 volunteers joined the first annual Volunteer Appreciation Party on Saturday,
October 29 at the Lake Merced Boathouse. Despite morning showers, a beautiful rainbow
opened the day as volunteers arrived to rooms filled with flowers and photo displays.
A hearty barbecue lunch buffet was served, while local band Talent for Mischief 
performed. Volunteers contribute over 180,000 hours of service annually to our parks
and programs across the city. Thank you to all who joined the fun and to those who
volunteer with us!

Golden Gate Park Tennis Center Community Meeting on November 16

to be held at City Hall in Friday, January 27, 2017. The Awards celebrate the amazing
work of community leaders and organizations in San Francisco's neighborhoods.

Butterflies & Blooms at the Conservatory of Flowers Begins in November
Get eye to eye with a butterfly in the exhibit Butterflies & Blooms, coming to the
Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park this fall. The popular exhibit returns
by overwhelming demand to San Francisco's beloved Victorian greenhouse, transforming
its Special Exhibit gallery into a beautiful and intimate cottage garden aflutter
with hundreds of butterflies on the wing including magnificent monarchs, western
 swallowtails, painted ladies and more. Walk among a wide variety of brightly colored
blossoms like zinnias and daisies while free-flying butterflies flit from flower
 to flower, drinking nectar and getting covered in pollen.
The exhibit will be featured from November 17 through June 30, 2017. And anyone 
can become a member of the Butterfly Patrol for just a $20 donation to learn how
 to release a newly emerged butterfly into the exhibit. Patrol members receive complimentary
people-sized antennae and a special badge to take home.

San Francisco Marina Small Craft Harbor Holiday Event on December 16
Join the SF Marina Small Craft Harbor for their holiday event on Friday, December
16 from 4 - 7 p.m. The event will feature a lighted boat parade, live music, rock

Tenderloin Street Soccer Fest on December 17
Street Soccer USA is teaming up with community based organizations and after-school
programs in the Tenderloin Neighborhood of San Francisco for a Street Soccer Tournament!
It will occur on December 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tenderloin Rec Center/Children's
Playground.
