Celebrating 20 Years of Educating Youth in our Parks
The Youth Stewardship Program will celebrate its 20th year of educating students
in our parks and open spaces. The event will take place at the ComUNITY Garden
(780 Frederick Street) in Golden Gate Park from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October
22, 2016. It will feature a brief presentation, field trip scheduling, garden tour,
refreshments, YSP demonstration and meeting with other educators. Open to educators

Scaregrove, our annual family-friendly Halloween event at Sigmund Stern Grove, happens
on Friday, October 28, from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m., featuring costume contests, haunted
houses, hay rides, carnival rides, giant inflatables, food for sale and live entertainment.
$8 per person; children under 2 years old are free. You can now purchase tickets

Volunteer Appreciation Party
In celebration of our incredible volunteers and the staff who love them most, this
celebration will be held on Saturday, October 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lake
Merced Boathouse (1 Harding Road). The event is for RPD Volunteers, plus one guest,
and will feature a catered barbecue lunch and live entertainment.

Noe Valley Town Square Opening on October 27
Join Supervisor Scott Wiener, Residents for Noe Valley Town Square and SF Recreation

The 9th Annual NEN Awards in January
Rec & Park is proud to be an organizational partner of the 9th Annual NEN Awards,
to be held at City Hall in Friday, January 27, 2017. The Awards celebrate the amazing
work of community leaders and organizations in San Francisco's neighborhoods.
As is the tradition with the NEN Awards, the winners are nominated by the community.

Halloween Zumba in the Parks Party
The Zumba in the Parks program is hosting a free, fun, family friendly - Halloween
Dance Party on Friday, October 21 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the City County Fair
Building (1199 9th Avenue). Enjoy and evening filled with all the fabulous Zumba
in the Parks instructors, music and lots of dancing! Bring your friends, wear costumes
and prepare to sweat for two hours! Light refreshments and water will be provided.

Saturday in the Park McLaren Concert Series: The Blues Show on October 22
The Blues Show - our season finale concert once again offers a great lineup of local

2016 Annual Girls Hoop Summit on November 12
