Different, Right?"

 Do your friends with singletons ever give you advice
 that just doesn't seem to apply to raising
 multiples? Do you have a sneaking suspicion that
 raising more than one baby the same age is
 fundamentally different than raising one at a time? 
 Most of us who are parents of multiples grew up as
 singletons, and early on formed a singleton's
 perspective on the relationship between baby and
 mother/parent. This workshop will explore the many ways
 that parenting twins is different than parenting a
 singleton, and provide a new model to help parents of
 twins feel more confident and successful. We will also
 discuss the unique development of twins and the impact
 their twinship has on their sense of self and
 relationships throughout their lives. Finally, we will
 talk about how to use this knowledge to approach
 parenting dilemmas with a more flexible, creative, and
 twin-friendly set of parenting tools.This workshop is
 being presented by Ruth Simon and Abigail Marks, who
 are both clinical psychologists practicing in the Bay
 Area, and also each are parents of twins (Ruth has
 boy-girl twins now in college and Abigail has twin boys
 age 10 and a 14 year old singleton). Dr. Simon has
 published and presented on the topics of twin
 development and parenting twins. In addition to
 providing individual and couple's therapy with
 adults, she also works as a parenting consultant for
 parents of multiples. Dr. Marks trained as a child
 psychologist and a large portion of her current
 practice is working with children, teenagers, and their
 families and doing stand-alone parent consultation.
 They will present on the topic of twinship from both
 professional and personal experience.Event Details &
