The Youth Stewardship Program (YSP), now in its 21st year, is hiring motivated and
aspiring youth educators for the 2017-2018 school year! The program's mission is
 to foster in youth an understanding of their important role in helping to build
 healthy social and natural communities. Environmental Educator Interns in the Youth
Stewardship Program (YSP) engage 2nd-12th grade students in environmental education
and service-learning field trips to parks and open spaces citywide.

Outside Lands in Golden Gate Park from August 11-13
Outside Lands returns to Golden Gate Park this weekend from Friday, August 10 to
 Sunday, August 13. Public transportation is strongly encouraged for festival goers.
For those biking, there will be bike parking on JFK Drive from Transverse down to
Stow Lake, on MLK Drive (near the South Gate) and in Marx Meadow near the box office.

Garfield Pool Conceptual Design Headed to Commission on August 17
Conceptual designs for a renovation project at Garfield Pool is headed to the Recreation
and Park Commission on August 17. Come and show your support for the new design 
by attending the meeting on August 12 at 10 a.m. in City Hall (1 Dr Carlton B. Goodlett
Place), Room 416.
The proposed design will increase available lap and recreational swimming hours 
by 40 percent at the pool, and allow for more opportunities to provide swimming 
lessons to youth. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, drowning
is a leading cause of injury-related deaths among children, ages 1-14.

The SF Mime Troupe Comes at SF Parks on August 12 and 13

Stern Grove Festival on August 13
The 80th season of the the Stern Grove Festival is in full swing! The Festival features
free Sunday concerts throughout the summer. Every year since 1938, the Stern Grove
Festival Association, in partnership with SF Rec and Park, presents an admission-free
performing arts series in Sigmund Stern Grove's beautiful outdoor amphitheater setting.
Musical melting pot WAR became a permanent part of America's musical landscape as
one of the first successful bands to fuse rock, jazz, Latin, and R&B, creating hits
such as "Low Rider," "Spill The Wine," and "Why Can't We Be Friends?"
San Francisco natives Malo are pioneers of the Latin rock that defined the 1970s,
hitting it big with their signature tune "Suavecito."
