SF Bay Sox Honored by Mayor Ed Lee
Championship baseball returns to the City! On August 15, Mayor Ed Lee hosted Rec
 and Park's 13U and 17U San Francisco Bay Sox teams at City Hall. The teams were
 fresh off an impressive showing at the Baseball for All National Tournament in 
Rockford, Ill. The 13U team came in third in their division and won the Team Sportsmanship
Award while the 17U team won the National Championship. Both teams received team
 trophies presented by the Mayor and GM Phil Ginsburg. Go Bay Sox!

Garfield Pool Conceptual Design Headed to Commission on August 17
Conceptual designs for a renovation project at Garfield Pool is headed to the Recreation
and Park Commission on Thursday, August 17. Come and show your support for the new
design by attending the meeting tomorrow at 10 a.m. in City Hall (1 Dr Carlton B.
Goodlett Place), Room 416.
The proposed design will increase available lap and recreational swimming hours 
by 40 percent at the pool, and allow for more opportunities to provide swimming 
lessons to youth. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, drowning
is a leading cause of injury-related deaths among children, ages 1-14.

Watch the Solar Eclipse in SF Parks on August 21
Don't have the time to get up to Oregon for the Solar Eclipse on August 21? Don't
worry, we have you covered!
Though we might not be getting a full solar eclipse in San Francisco, we are expecting
to have substantial coverage! The eclipse is set to begin at 9:01 a.m. and continue
to 11:37 a.m. with peak coverage of the sun at 10:15. Many of San Francisco's parks
offer beautiful outdoor vantage points for the eclipse. Check out our list below

Stern Grove Festival on August 20
The 80th season of the the Stern Grove Festival is in full swing! The Festival features
free Sunday concerts throughout the summer. Every year since 1938, the Stern Grove
Festival Association, in partnership with SF Rec and Park, presents an admission-free
performing arts series in Sigmund Stern Grove's beautiful outdoor amphitheater setting.
Hailing from New York City, GRAMMY-nominated group Brazilian Girls are a dance floor-friendly
and eclectic blend of electronic dance music reflecting styles as diverse as jazz,
