Solar Eclipse Members' Morning on August 21!

Where were you for the solar eclipse 2017?  The SF Zoo, of course! Join us for a special Members’ Morning on August 21 to celebrate the solar eclipse!  San Francisco Zoo Members are invited into the park early from 9:00-10:00 am to learn how to safely look at an eclipse, with the hopes of seeing this “once in a lifetime” event at the Zoo.  We will open the Sloat Boulevard Entrance for Members who will receive complimentary food and beverages at the Playfield Café!

Solar Eclipse Safety Tips
* View only through special-purpose solar filter glasses.
* Supervise children using solar filter glasses.
* Do not look at the partially eclipsed sun through an unfiltered camera, telescope, binoculars, sun glasses or other optical devices.
* Hold an ordinary kitchen colander overhead with its bowl turned up. Don’t look at the sun but rather at the ground. Images of the eclipse will be projected through the colander’s holes onto the pavement.
