Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Summer of Love This Weekend!
Journey into a forest full of faeries and lovers in We Players' adaptation of William
Shakespeare's all-time favorite, "A Midsummer Night's Dream." The six-person version

National Night Out on August 1
Tuesday, August 1 is National Night Out, an annual community-building campaign that
promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our 
neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. Rec centers and parks across the
city will be participating in this event with a variety of live entertainment, arts
and recreational activities and informational opportunities. The following SF Rec
and Park locations will be participating:

* Minnie & Lovie Ward Recreation Center (650 Capitol Avenue) from 5 to 8 p.m.
* Harvey Milk Recreational Arts Center (50 Scott Street) from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

SF Board of Supervisors Recognizes Park and Rec Month, Randall Friends
On July 25, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors celebrated  National Park and
 Recreation Month with a special resolution proclaiming July as Recreation and Parks
Month in San Francisco. Supervisor Jeff Sheehy (fourth from left) also honored and
recognized the Randall Museum Friends, who have supported the Randall since 1954
 and who have been instrumental in the current renovation of the Museum.

SF Baysox Gear Up for 2017 Baseball For All National Tournament
The San Francisco Baysox all-girls baseball teams have been busy this summer, playing
in a multitude of games including a tournament up in Carson City, Nevada. in June.
They will depart on July 27 for the all-girls Baseball For All National Tournament
that will be played in Rockford, Illinois over the next week. Good luck to our young
athletes and thanks for representing our city!

On June 24, our beloved Koret Children's Quarter playground was vandalized, severely
damaging the structure and closing part of the playground. The SF Parks Alliance

Meet Me at the Park Trail Project on July 29
Please join us from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 29 at McLaren Park. Our 
Greenagers will be restoring and maintaining a trail, put in place by Volunteers
 for Outdoor California back in 2014. The trail is now overgrown with weeds and 
needs some upkeep and redefining.

Stern Grove Festival on July 30
The 80th season of the the Stern Grove Festival is in full swing! The Festival features
free Sunday concerts throughout the summer. Every year since 1938, the Stern Grove
Festival Association, in partnership with SF Rec and Park, presents an admission-free
performing arts series in Sigmund Stern Grove's beautiful outdoor amphitheater setting.
The incomparable San Francisco Ballet returns to Stern Grove Festival in the company's
only Bay Area summer appearance. Led by Artistic Director, Helgi Tomasson, the Company
performs selections from their current repertory, with the GRAMMY-winning San Francisco
Ballet Orchestra led by conductor Martin West.

Saturday in the Park Returns with the 5th Annual Kids Show on August 12
