Tonight: Surrealistic Summer Solstice Concert and Conservatory Lighting
Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Summer of Love on the first evening of summer,
tonight, Wednesday, June 21, from 6-10 p.m., with a light art installation that 
will transform the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park into a canvas of 
elegant illuminated scenes every night through October. The event will also include
a free Surrealistic Summer Solstice concert revisiting the iconic songs of the late
1960s by over 40 legendary musicians. The grand lighting will occur at approximately

San Francisco Bay Area Pro-Am Hoops Season Underway
Looking to fill that basketball void now that the NBA season is over? The 38th San
Francisco Bay Area Pro-Am season is underway, featuring free, high-quality hoops
 all summer long at Kezar Pavilion in Golden Gate Park.
>From the seasoned pro and college veterans looking to enhance their skills, to the
promising young athletes seeking to catch the eye of one of the many fans and scouts
in the stands, the San Francisco Bay Area Pro-Am Summer Basketball League provides
an excellent opportunity for male and female players, coaches, officials and attendees
to mix and have fun in a quality event during the summer months.
Games are held throughout the week, with men's games held Monday through Friday

Flower Piano Returns to the SF Botanical Garden this Summer
This summer, music, community, and nature join forces once again in the heart of
 the city during the 12-day, outdoor extravaganza known as Flower Piano. Now in 
its third year, Flower Piano once again transforms San Francisco Botanical Garden
(SFBG) into the city's own alfresco concert hall, and everyone is invited to play
and listen. From July 13 - 24 only, visitors will find twelve pianos tucked among
the many flower-filled gardens within SFBG's 55 acres and are encouraged to play
 what they like, from chopsticks to Tchaikovsky. On weekend days, event partner 
Sunset Piano has invited professional pianists and a whole host of other musicians
to perform throughout the Garden as well, and the public is welcome to pack a picnic
and enjoy the shows. Kids Design Workshop on June 24
Then, join us for a Kids Design Workshop on June 24, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
at the Joe DiMaggio Playground Clubhouse (651 Lombard Street), hosted by Design 
Museum San Francisco.
The day will include plenty of outdoor play, and a group building exercise in the
Joe DiMaggio Playground Clubhouse. In this two-hour hands-on workshop, families 
will be introduced to architecture and design through building exercises where children
will be allowed to let their imaginations run wild, and create their own custom 
playscapes!

Healthy Parks, Healthy People Trail Walk at Heron's Head Park on June 24
Heron's Head Park, Jennings Street off of Cargo Way
10 a.m. to 12 noon; Meet in the mini-park
Join us as we team up with the Herons Head Eco Center for Science Saturday! We'll
walk along the newly renovated waterfront and Bay Trail to admire this example of
restoration success. The park attracts more than 100 bird species per year so bring
those binoculars. Then it's off to visit the Eco Center for fun lessons in sustainability.

It's a Celebration: Stern Grove Festival Kicks Off with Kool & The Gang on June

The 80th season of the the Stern Grove Festival kicks off this weekend June 25, 
featuring free Sunday concerts throughout the summer. Every year since 1938, the
 Stern Grove Festival Association, in partnership with SF Rec and Park, presents
 an admission-free performing arts series in Sigmund Stern Grove's beautiful outdoor
amphitheater setting.
This Sunday at 2 p.m., kick off the celebration with multi-Grammy award-winning 
funk band Kool & The Gang.
