South Park Reopens on March 7
San Francisco's oldest park, South Park (64 South Park Street at Third) reopens 
on Tuesday, March 7, from 12 noon to 2 p.m., after a $3.8 million renovation funded
by the 2008 and 2012 Clean & Safe Neighborhood parks bonds as well as with generous
support from the South Park Improvement Association (SPIA) and Fletcher Studio. 
Join Rec and Park, SPIA, community members and elected officials for a special picnic
event and ribbon cutting ceremony. The ribbon cutting will be at 12:30 p.m. Grab
 a snack nearby and join us on March 7!

SF Deltas Opening Night on March 25 at Kezar Stadium
Drop by Kezar Stadium (670 Kezar Drive) on Saturday, March 25 at 7 p.m. to see San
Francisco's newest sports team. The SF Deltas are a professional soccer team in 
the North American Soccer League whose home field will be at the historic Kezar

Rec and Park More Popular Than Baseball and Steph Curry
The San Francisco Recreation and Park Department has a 70% favorability rating based
on poll results released on March 1. This rating tops the popularity of the Golden
State Warriors' Steph Curry and ranks the Department well above celebrities Katy
 Perry and George Clooney.

"I'm thrilled to say that we are more popular than baseball and napping on Thanksgiving.
While it hurts, we can see why Meryl Streep's favorability beat us by 2 points,"
 said Phil Ginsburg, SF Rec and Park General Manager. "I am proud of our staff for
the great work that led to this ranking; I'll remind them to keep up the good work
if we are going to catch up to ice cream and apple pie."

Among all city services voted on, Rec and Park received the highest favorability
 according to the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce's Dignity Health CityBeat Voter
Poll, the results were announced at the Chamber's 167th annual breakfast meeting
 on March 1.

SF Chronicle: Science Sparks Excitement for Middle School Investigators
Rec and Park's Randall Museum was proud to host the 2017 San Francisco Middle School

Greenagers Now Accepting Applications for 2017-2018

Summer Day Camp Registration on March 18
It's not too early to think about summer! Summer Day Camp registration begins March
18 at 10 a.m.-- online and at 13 sites around the city. This summer, your kids will

Unplug and Hike! Healthy Parks, Healthy People Trail Walk - Stow Lake on March 4
Stow Lake Boathouse (50 Stow Lake Drive) in Golden Gate Park (First Saturday of 
Month) at 10:00 a.m.
Start at the Stow Lake Boathouse for some light stretching followed by an easy-going
walk around one of the parks most popular areas. Meet by the picnic tables next 
to the dock.
For a more enjoyable walk remember to dress comfortably, wear walking shoes, bring
water and use sunscreen. Please check local weather forecasts - Trail Walks will

Butterflies & Blooms at the Conservatory of Flowers Now Open
Get eye-to-eye with a butterfly in the exhibit Butterflies & Blooms, now at the 
Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park through June 30, 2017. The popular exhibit
is back by overwhelming demand at San Francisco's beloved Victorian greenhouse, 
transforming its Special Exhibit gallery into a beautiful and intimate cottage garden
aflutter with hundreds of butterflies on the wing including magnificent monarchs,
western swallowtails, painted ladies and more. Walk among a wide variety of brightly
colored blossoms like zinnias and daisies while free-flying butterflies flit from
flower to flower, drinking nectar and getting covered in pollen.

And anyone can become a member of the Butterfly Patrol for just $20 to learn how
 to release a newly emerged butterfly into the exhibit. Patrol members receive complimentary
people-sized antennae and a special badge to take home.
