SF Deltas Kickoff Celebration on March 17!
On Friday, March 17th at 3:30 p.m. we will be hosting a meet and greet at Civic 
Center Plaza with the San Francisco Deltas, the city's official soccer team! The
 players will be hosting soccer clinics for kids, as well as signing autographs,
 taking photos, and giving out swag! There will also be a happy hour from 4:45-7:00
p.m. hosted by Another Planet Entertainment at Bill Graham that is free to the public!

SF Deltas Opening Night on March 25 at Kezar Stadium
Drop by Kezar Stadium (670 Kezar Drive) on Saturday, March 25 at 7 p.m. to see San
Francisco's newest sports team. The SF Deltas are a professional soccer team in 
the North American Soccer League whose home field will be at the historic Kezar 
Stadium this coming season. South Park Officially Reopens
The ribbon is cut! South Park, San Francisco's oldest park, has officially reopened
after a $3.8 million renovation, funded in part by the 2008 and 2012 Clean & Safe
Neighborhood Parks Bonds, as well as with generous support from the South Park Improvement
Association (SPIA). Garfield Square Athletic Field Reopens
It's a big week of openings at Rec & Park! This week, we reopened the Garfield Square
athletic field after replacing the turf and improving its fencing and drainage.The
old turf was completely recycled and the new turf is a natural infill comprised 
of sand and cork. Garfield was renovated back in 2006 under our partnership with
 the City Fields Foundation, which renovated 21 athletic fields around the city 
and helped to provide an additional 90,000 hours of playtime on our fields each 
year.

Big Thanks to Supporters of the Natural Resources Management Plan
Friends and supporters of the department's Natural Resources Management Plan, which
scored a huge victory at the Board of Supervisors on February 28, joined together
for a celebratory brunch at the Conservatory of Flowers on March 8. GM Phil Ginsburg
thanked the long list of individuals and groups who helped support the plan over
 the years.

McLaren Park Project Focus Area Workshop on April 8
Join us for a public workshop to plan trail and path improvements in McLaren Park
on Saturday, April 8 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Visitacion Valley Library (201

is the second outreach event for the Trails and Paths focus area and is part of

Greenagers Now Accepting Applications for 2017-2018
The San Francisco Recreation and Park Department and the Port of San Francisco's
 Greenagers program, a youth leadership program offering teens a chance to play 
an important role in their community. Teens perform beautification work at parks
 throughout the city, participate in leadership workshops and choose projects based
on their interests.

This loop trail includes beautiful views of San Francisco's wetlands providing opportunities
to see bird species and native plants. Meet in front of the Lake Merced Boathouse

Butterflies & Blooms at the Conservatory of Flowers Now Open
Get eye-to-eye with a butterfly in the exhibit Butterflies & Blooms, now at the 
Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park through June 30, 2017. The popular exhibit
is back by overwhelming demand at San Francisco's beloved Victorian greenhouse, 
transforming its Special Exhibit gallery into a beautiful and intimate cottage garden
aflutter with hundreds of butterflies on the wing including magnificent monarchs,
western swallowtails, painted ladies and more. Walk among a wide variety of brightly
colored blossoms like zinnias and daisies while free-flying butterflies flit from
flower to flower, drinking nectar and getting covered in pollen.

And anyone can become a member of the Butterfly Patrol for just $20 to learn how
 to release a newly emerged butterfly into the exhibit. Patrol members receive complimentary
people-sized antennae and a special badge to take home.
