In honor of Jay Blakesberg's exhibit that will be on display at Harvey Milk Photo
Center (50 Scott Street), we will also be hosting a lecture by Blakesberg on Saturday,
November 11 beginning at 11:30 a.m. The slideshow and lecture will cover Jay's 39-year
journey in rock and roll photography from documenting the Grateful Dead to his latest

Thank You Park Volunteers!
Hundreds of volunteers joined us for a special Volunteer Appreciation Day at the
 County Fair Building in Golden Gate Park on November 4, where we were able to thank
some of the men and women who dedicate more than 200,000 hours of their time and
 energy to our parks and programs each year. The event featured the best of Rec 
and park, including International Folk and Chinese Cultural dancing, fresh produce
from San Francisco community gardens, live music, catered food, jewelry making and

the air quality caused by the regional wildfires in October. The event is Northern
California's largest sandcastle competition that supports an important cause of 
bringing essential arts programs into local schools. This unique sandcastle competition,
nonprofit fundraiser and community event brings over 3,000 people to San Francisco's
Ocean Beach every year to build super-sized sand sculptures with local students.

Art Workshops for Infants & Toddlers at Randall Museum in October
Drop into the Randall Museum at Mission Art Center (745 Treat Avenue) for an innovative
art class for infants and toddlers ages 1 year and two months to 5 years old. Kids
and caregivers will combine art making with children's songs and nursery rhymes.
 Together they can use toys and everyday art tools to make this art class extra 
fun. Paint with sponges, miniature cars, rollers, fingers and more. As with every
art class, dress for a mess!
Infants and toddlers must be accompanied by a participating adult with a cost of
 $10 per parent-child combo. Drop-in between 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Fridays and
1 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays in October.

SF Rose Society Pruning Demo on December 9
Join the SF Rose Society at the Rose Garden in Golden Gate Park (John F. Kennedy
