Scaregrove on October 27
Boo! Scaregrove returns to Stern Grove (19th Avenue and Sloat Boulevard), on Friday,
October 27 from 3 to 9 p.m. An "out of this world" Halloween event, this year's 
event will feature a costume contest and parade, haunted houses, hay rides, carnival
rides, giant inflatables, food for sale and live entertainment. $10 per person; 
children under 2 years old are free!
Tickets are now available at the McLaren Lodge Annex (501 Stanyan Street in Golden
Gate Park) Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., until the day of the event.

McLaren Bike Park is Now Open!
This past Saturday, we opened the McLaren Bike Park, the first BMX and Mountain 
Biking Park in San Francisco. Designed by Alpine Bike Parks, the $1.1 million project
in McLaren Park features a beginner bike skills trail, youth BMX and mountain biking
pump park and multi-use plaza and lawn among other features. The event Saturday 
featured a first ride through a ribbon, kids' races, raffles, vendor giveaways and
a pro pump-style competition. The park is now open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for 
fall and winter. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the spring and summer 
and feature exciting new programming!

Construction to Begin on New Restroom at GGP Boat Playground
We announced this week the construction of a new free-standing restroom at Golden
Gate Park's Boat Playground (45th Avenue and Lincoln Way). The $2 million restroom
construction is a community driven project advocated for by an Outer Sunset community
group called the 45th Avenue Neighborhood Association. The majority of the funding
was secured by District 4 Supervisor Katy Tang through the City's General Fund. 
In recent years, Supervisor Tang has continued her efforts to secure funding to 
improve parks and open space in District 4, including improvements along the Great
Highway, Sloat Boulevard and South Sunset Recreation Center. Thank you Supervisor
Tang for all of your support!

Join Recreation Leaders as we team up with the Herons Head Eco Center for Science
Saturday! We will walk along the newly renovated waterfront and Bay Trail to admire
this example of restoration success. The park attracts more than 100 bird species
per year so bring those binoculars. Then it's off to visit the Eco Center for fun
lessons in sustainability.

Mother Lear at McLaren Park on October 28 and 29
Join "We Players," for their presentation of "Mother Lear" at McLaren Park on Saturday,

theater. This moving production is about a middle-aged woman who navigates dementia

Art Workshops for Infants & Toddlers at Randall Museum in October
Drop into the Randall Museum at Mission Art Center (745 Treat Avenue) for an innovative
art class for infants and toddlers ages 1 year and two months to 5 years old. Kids
and caregivers will combine art making with children's songs and nursery rhymes.
 Together they can use toys and everyday art tools to make this art class extra 
fun. Paint with sponges, miniature cars, rollers, fingers and more. As with every
art class, dress for a mess!
Infants and toddlers must be accompanied by a participating adult with a cost of
 $10 per parent-child combo. Drop-in between 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Fridays and
