The Mission Continues Volunteer Event at Buchanan Street Mall on September 9
The Mission Continues is a non-profit organization that empowers veterans who are
adjusting to life at home to find purpose through community impact. In remembrance
of September 11, they will be improving the playground and park at the Buchanan 
Street Mall (Buchanan Street between Eddy and Grove Streets) on September 9 from
 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The scope of work includes playground clean up, painting and

Coastal Clean Up Day on September 16
Join us for Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, September 16 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
 SF Rec and Park will be responsible for the east side of the city with 12 work 
sites where volunteers will be collecting trash and debris to help clean our waterways.

Hamilton Pool Wins Multiple Awards Over the Summer
Congratulations to the Hamilton Pool staff for winning both the "Best Pool" Award
from San Francisco Magazine and the Bay Area Parent "Best of the Best Swim Center"
Award this past summer. Located in the Fillmore/Western Addition neighborhood, Hamilton
Pool (1900 Geary Boulevard) is an indoor facility that boasts a large heated pool
as well as an accessible heated shallow pool that is perfect for both seniors and
children! Its most prominent features however are the only two indoor water slides
in San Francisco!
It's a great place to host a party or event and also provides year-round programming

Minnie & Lovie Ward Community Volunteer Day on September 9
The City's Fix-It Team is partnering with SF Rec and Park to organize a volunteer
day at Minnie & Lovie Ward Recreation Center, and we are looking for volunteers 
to join us! Through the Fix-It process, Oceanview residents identified the the park's
perimeter as an area in need of weeding. Meet at the southwest corner of Minnie 
& Lovie Ward at Capitol Avenue and Lobos Street. The event will run from 9:30 a.m.

The design team for the Panhandle Playground Renovation, which is part of the Let'sPlaySF!

Get outdoors for a day filled with fresh air and healthy, friendly fun!  This two-mile
loop trail includes beautiful views of San Francisco's wetlands providing opportunities
to see nesting bird species, native plants and an introduction to beginning Qigong.

Healthy Parks, Healthy People 5th Anniversary at Heron's Head Park on September

Art Workshops for Infants & Toddlers at Randall Museum in October
Drop into the Randall Museum at Mission Art Center (745 Treat Avenue) for an innovative
art class for infants and toddlers ages 1 year and two months to 5 years old. Kids
and caregivers will combine art making with children's songs and nursery rhymes.
 Together they can use toys and everyday art tools to make this art class extra 
fun. Paint with sponges, miniature cars, rollers, fingers and more. As with every
art class, dress for a mess!
Infants and toddlers must be accompanied by a participating adult with a cost of
 $10 per parent-child combo. Drop-in between 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Fridays and
1 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays in October.
