CELEBRATE EARTH DAY AT SF ZOO!

Every day is Earth Day at the San Francisco Zoo & Gardens! In addition to all the exciting things happening at your Zoo this weekend, we’ll be unveiling ‘Gail’s Fragrance Garden’- our very first sensory and fragrance garden – where visitors can smell, touch, look and listen. This uniquely designed garden also will serve as a sanctuary for migratory species like hummingbirds and monarch butterflies. To celebrate Earth's treasures, a special ladybug release will occur at 11:00 am on both Saturday and Sunday!

WELCOME HOME, "JILLIAN"!

Our young Sumatran tiger’s “homecoming” has been a success! After finishing – and passing -- her required quarantine period, Jillian calmly explored her former habitat located just across from the nation’s largest outdoor colony of Megellanic Penguins. It is a testament to the expertise of the animal care professionals both here and at Sacramento Zoo that “Jillian’s” move has been flawless!

A SPECIAL PRE-OPENING BIRD WALK!

It’s National Volunteer Week, so join us for a very special morning tour led by Superstar Volunteer and SF Zoo Docent, Professor Allan Ridley.  Meet the good Professor on Thursday, April 26^th, at 8:30 a.m. for a 1 ½ Zoo tour before the crowds arrive! (RSVP or inquire at birding at sfzoo.org (mailto:birding at sfzoo.org) .)

MEATLESS COOK-OFF!

There’s no better venue for a “Meatless Cook-Off” than SF Zoo! Join International Television Star and Celebrity Chef Bob Blumer, as he makes “meatless and zero-waste” fun again with a special cooking demonstration!  He’ll then judge our very first “Meatless Cook-off” competition between two Northern California chefs on Saturday, April 28^th, from 1:00-3:30 pm.
