Helen Diller Civic Center Playgrounds Opening on February 14

Geneva Community Garden Opening on February 24

Rec and Park Employees Honored by the Board of Supervisors for Black History Month
In honor of Black History Month, the Board of Supervisors honored Park Ranger Carl
Payne and Park Services Manager Robert Muhammad yesterday at City Hall.
After serving in the Marines for six years, Park Ranger Carl Payne has been a lifelong
city employee, spending more than 50 years with the City--- 28 with MUNI and 23 
as a San Francisco Police Officer. He's been a park ranger for the past two. He's
also a 10-time Cable Car Bell Ringing Champion! He was honored by District 3 Supervisor
Aaron Peskin.
Robert Muhammad is currently the Acting Park Services Manager for Park Service Area
4, which includes Stern Grove, Lake Merced and the Lower Great Highway. A San Francisco
native who grew up in the Ingleside neighborhood, he now manages the parks he grew
up playing in everyday! He was honored by District 4 Supervisor Katy Tang.
Thank you both for all of your hard work in bettering our parks and city!

SF Rec and Park Garners 70% Approval in 2018 CityBeat Poll
For the second year in a row, SF Rec an Park has earned a 70% approval rating from
the people of San Francisco through the Chamber of Commerce's CityBeat Poll. The
 results were announced on February 2 at the Chamber of Commerce's annual CityBeat
Breakfast, which was attended by 900 businesses and civic leaders. Thank you for

Francisco Park Design Update Open House on February 10
We are co-hosting with the Francisco Park Conservancy a design update open house
 to share the latest designs of the new Francisco Park. Please join us for this

Alemany Farm Water Gardening and Pond Clean-up Workshop on February 18
Come out to Alemany Farm (700 Alemany Boulevard) to help with their late winter 
pond maintenance while you learn about aquatic plants and water management then 
follow it up with some solar snacks! This event will take place on Sunday, February
18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will include a discussion on pond ecology, the importance
of water sources on organic farms, strategies for management and creating plant

Tinkering for Tots Classes Now Open!
Tinkering for Tots Class & The Tinkering & Making Lab are now open! In these FREE
classes, tots will unleash their curiousity as they TINKER with everyday materials,
explore how things work and are put back together. Students will be inspired to 
use their imaginations and problem solve in our STEM Tinkering and Making Labs. 
Classes are on Wednesdays from 1/10 to 3/7 at Minnie and Lovie Ward Recreation Center
(650 Capitol Avenue) and Thursday from 1/11 to 3/8 at Tenderloin Recreation Center

San Francisco Youth Baseball League Opening Day on February 24
Join us on Saturday, February 24 to throw out the first pitch on the 2018 baseball
season! We will be celebrating opening day for the SF Youth Baseball League on that
day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kimbell Fields (Geary Boulevard and Steiner Street).
Activities will include speed pitch, home run derby and an all teams parade, as
