City Departments Celebrate Gleneagles Academy Training Program
On February 27, we celebrated the expansion of the Mayor's Gleneagles Academy with
Mayor Mark Farrell, the Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD), and
 community and labor partners. This is a collaborative effort to link to local residents
in Visitacion Valley with hands-on job training programs. OEWD's CityBuild Program
launched the newest iteration of Gleneagles Academy training program in January.
 The program opens doors to new jobs in the city's construction industry. For more

Greenagers Now Hiring for the Class of 2019
The Greenager Program is an outdoor youth leadership program created and designed
to offer early high school teens a chance to play an important role in the community
by improving the city's green spaces! We are looking for rising 9th to 10th grade

10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Meet at the Stow Lake Boathouse (50 Stow Lake Drive).
Explore nature, enliven your spirit, and increase your stamina in beautiful Golden
Gate Park. This 2-mile loop trail around Stow Lake features waterfalls, bird watching
and a grand view from the top of Strawberry Hill. Meet by the Boathouse dock. For

Ritmolandia at In Chan Kaajal Park on March 3
With support from the California Arts Council, the Youth Art Exchange has partnered
with musician Alfie Macias to provide free percussion and dance classes to the Mission
neighborhood of San Francisco, These FREE classes will take place at In Chan Kaajal
Park (17th and Folsom Streets) and will help participants learn the historic and
 cultural arts of the neighborhood. The next class will take place on Saturday,

Family Day Golf Fundraiser on March 8
Dust off those clubs and bring your driver to the Family Day Golf Fundraiser on 
March 8. Join 60 golfers at the Gleneagles Golf Course (2100 Sunnydale Avenue) for
District 10's first community-driven golf tournament. Check in will be at 9 a.m.
 with a 10 a.m. tee time. It will be folowed by a luncheon, cocktail reception and
raffle. Funds raised from this event will directly support the 20th Anniversary 
of Family Day. 20th Annual Visitacion Valley Family Day on March 10
Join the neighbors of Visitacion Valley on Saturday, March 10 for their 20th Annual
Family Day in honor of Ruth Jackson and her family's commitment to serving the Visitacion
Valley and Sunnydale neighborhoods. There will be a parade, kids activities, car
 show, live performances, food, raffle and most importantly, FUN! The event will
 take place at Herz Playground (1701 Visitacion Avenue) at 9 a.m. with breakfast,
followed by the parade at 11 a.m. with activities continuing until 5 p.m. See you

Red Umbrellas at Alvord Lake on March 9 & 10
The Red Umbrellas Open Air Art Exhibition is at Alvord Lake next week beginning

 "Ghost Town to Havana." It follows the narrator and two individuals, one from Oakland
and one from Havana, in their lives and the baseball programs that they created.
 Both the the coach from Oakland and the creator of the documentary will be in attendance
to talk to the kids and staff about their journeys. The screenings will be THIS 
Thursday at Herz Playground (1701 Visitacion Avenue), THIS Friday at Youngblood 
Coleman (1398 Hudson Avenue) and THIS Saturday at Potrero Recreation Center (801
 Arkansas Street). Peace Parks begins at 6 p.m. with the screening at 7 p.m. on
