Helen Diller Civic Center Playgrounds Opening on February 14

Greenager Class of 2018 Graduates!
On January 26, we graduated our Greenager class of 2018 at the Lake Merced Boathouse.
This youth leadership program offers teens, from the northeast and southeast side
of San Francisco, a chance to play an important role in the community by improving
our city's green spaces. These graduates contributed 2,400 hours of service to our

Congratulations to the Mission Continues SF (1st Service Platoon) for winning the
Outstanding Park Volunteer Award at the Neighborhood Empowerment Network (NEN)'s

Tu B'Shevat Celebrated at Heroes Grove in Golden Gate Park
Happy Tu B'Shevat! In commemoration of this holiday that celebrates trees, we hosted
Reboot and Save the Redwoods League at Heroes Grove in Golden Gate Park on January
28 for a volunteer workday and celebration. 50 volunteers planted trees, spread 
mulch and raked leaves in the morning before the public celebration amongst the 
redwoods that included musicians Zach Rogue of Rogue Wave and Geographer, as well
as a ceremonial planting of the tree! Thank you for your stewardship and helping
 to take care of our parks!

Francisco Park Design Update Open House on February 10
We are co-hosting with the Francisco Park Conservancy a design update open house
 to share the latest designs of the new Francisco Park. Please join us for this 
community gathering on Saturday, February 10 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Moscone Recreation
Center (1800 Chestnut Street), where the project team will discuss the details of
three major park elements: the children's playground, community garden and dog play

Community Garden Workshops in February
Get your garden ready and join us for FREE community garden workshops over the next
few  months! Beginning in February, we will be hosting two winter pruning workshops

Alemany Farm Water Gardening and Pond Clean-up Workshop on February 18
Come out to Alemany Farm (700 Alemany Boulevard) to help with their late winter 
pond maintenance while you learn about aquatic plants and water management then 
follow it up with some solar snacks! This event will take place on Sunday, February
18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will include a discussion on pond ecology, the importance
of water sources on organic farms, strategies for management and creating plant 
and animal diversity. Bring your hip waders or rain boots if you have them (a few

Swim Coaches Needed for the SF Merionettes
The SF Merionettes Synchronized Swim Club is seeking part-time coaches to support
our novice, intermediate and age group teams. The team has expanded over the last
few years now has over 40 swimmers! There is an experienced coaching staff in place
that take a collaborative approach to coaching with multiple coaches per team, allowing

Tinkering for Tots Classes Now Open!
Tinkering for Tots Class & The Tinkering & Making Lab are now open! In these FREE
classes, tots will unleash their curiousity as they TINKER with everyday materials,
explore how things work and are put back together. Students will be inspired to 
use their imaginations and problem solve in our STEM Tinkering and Making Labs. 
Classes are on Wednesdays from 1/10 to 3/7 at Minnie and Lovie Ward Recreation Center
(650 Capitol Avenue) and Thursday from 1/11 to 3/8 at Tenderloin Recreation Center

San Francisco Youth Baseball League Opening Day on February 24
Join us on Saturday, February 24 to throw out the first pitch on the 2018 baseball
season! We will be celebrating opening day for the SF Youth Baseball League on that
day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kimbell Fields (Geary Boulevard and Steiner Street).
Activities will include speed pitch, home run derby and an all teams parade, as
