World Cup Viewing Final Viewing Party at Civic Center Plaza on July 15
Rec and Park will host a FREE public viewing party of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Final
match at Civic Center Plaza on Sunday, July 15, beginning at 8 a.m. Watch France
 take on Croatia in an epic finals match. In addition to the screenings, there will
be soccer activities for kids and food trucks! Civic Center Commons will also be
 offering lawn games like giant Jenga and cornhole for guests to enjoy!

Willie "Woo Woo" Wong Playground Groundbreaking on July 14
Join us for the groundbreaking of Willie "Woo Woo" Wong Playground (850 Sacramento
Street) on Saturday, July 14 in conjunction with Waverly Saturdays from 11 a.m. 
to noon! There will be a blessing and lion dance, brief remarks and a ceremonial

Summer Play Day on July 18

Summer Day Camp Update and Camp Chronicles
Summer is rolling along as we finished up our fourth week of summer day camps this
past week! Some important and pertinent statistics to report include that our campers
have conducted 141 experiments at the Randall Museum, caught 75 fly balls and completed
1,596 hours of service at our Pay It Forward Camp, in addition to a number of honeycombs

Flower Piano Returns to the SF Botanical Garden in July
This summer, music, community, and nature join forces once again in the heart of
 the city during the twelve-day, outdoor extravaganza known as Flower Piano. Now
 in its fourth year, Flower Piano once again transforms San Francisco Botanical 
Garden in Golden Gate Park into the city's own alfresco concert hall, and everyone
is invited to play and listen for just the price of admission.
Through July 16 each day 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., visitors will find 12 pianos tucked among
the many flower-filled gardens within the Garden's 55 acres and are encouraged to
play what they like, from chopsticks to Tchaikovsky. On weekend days, event partner
Sunset Piano has invited professional pianists and a whole host of other musicians
to perform throughout the Garden as well, and the public is welcome to pack a picnic
and enjoy the shows.
Back this year also is NightGarden Piano, a special evening event on July 12, 13
 & 14 from 8-11:30 p.m. Beautifully lit pathways guide visitors to pianos aglow 
with performances by Sunset Piano all-stars and open pianos to play. Food and drink
available for purchase. Tickets are $45-55 each for NightGarden Piano. All proceeds
help to fund Flower Piano.

Red Umbrellas at Alvord Lake on July 14

Garden Resource Day on July 21
Get your garden ready and join us for FREE community garden workshops this summer
and fall, including our second Garden Resource Day of the year at the Golden Gate
Park CommUNITY Garden (780 Frederick Street) from 10 a.m. to 1 pm THIS Saturday,
 June 9! In addition to compost and mulch, we will also have veggie plants to give
away, as well as a station to clean and repair your small garden tools.
