CELEBRATE RED, WHITE, AND ZOO!

Celebrate the 4th of July and enjoy the relaxing ambiance of Red, White & Zoo! We're highlighting our "patriotic" animals with natural red, white and blue coloring, like red pandas, white pelicans, and hyacinth macaws. See special animal feedings and hear talks about our grizzly bears, chimps, penguins, and more. Also, don’t miss live animal shows all weekend long at the Wells Fargo Wildlife Theatre.

CALIFORNIA CONSERVATION CORRIDOR
GRAND OPENING JULY 4

Did you know that California is the most biologically diverse state in the nation? We have the highest number of plant and animal species that are found nowhere else in the world. From the Giant Sequoia to the California Poppy and the Gray Whale to the San Francisco garter snake, our state is home to thousands of species of plants and hundreds of animals – many of which are reptiles, amphibians, and insects. All of California’s species matter to their ecological communities and our state’s identity.

Visit our new California Conservation Corridor - opening July 4 - and learn how the San Francisco Zoo and Gardens is helping to save species and protect California’s wild places!

WELCOME SNOW LEOPARD CUBS!

We are pleased to announce that two snow leopard cubs were born on June 7, 2018. The mother is “Dawa” and the father is “Jimmy G” - named after Jimmy Garoppolo of the San Francisco 49ers. This is “Dawa's” first pregnancy and San Francisco Zoological Society staff are closely monitoring the new mom and cubs. “Dawa” is highly attentive to her cubs and encouraging them to nurse. Snow leopards, which are from the mountain ranges of South and Central Asia, are one of the most highly vulnerable big cat species in the world. Mother and cubs are currently off-exhibit, however, you can watch a brief video of "Dawa" and her cubs just outside the snow leopard enclosure.
