80th Anniversary Celebration of the Angler's Lodge and Casting Pools on May 12
Join the Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club and Rec and Park for a celebration
 marking the 80th anniversary of the historic Angler's Lodge and Casting Pools (1232
John F. Kennedy Drive) in Golden Gate Park on Saturday, May 12. A project of the
 Works Progress Administration (WPA) in 1938, the ponds are free and open to anyone
with an interest in fly fishing, from beginners to seasoned experts. The day will
start with free casting lessons from 9:30 a.m. to noon, followed by a ceremony and

Youth Tennis Advantage Celebrates 50 Years!
On Tuesday, May 1 nearly 200 guests gathered to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of
Youth Tennis Advantage (YTA). Guests enjoyed spectacular views of the Bay while 
enjoying each other's company and raising money to help support the organization.
The YTA is dedicated to enriching the lives of kids ages 8 to 18 living in underserved
communities in the Bay Area through tennis, with over 400 youth served a year including

Public Art Project at the Geneva Car Barn and Powerhouse!
We want to hear what you think! We are working with the San Francisco Arts Commission
and want your feedback to commission public artwork(s) for the Geneva Powerhouse,
which is currently being renovated! The goal of the public art project is to create
a signature piece of art for the redesigned Powerhouse that will inspire and engage
arts programming participants and the community in general, enhancing their connection
to the historic building. Three artists were chosen as finalists by a Public Art
 Selection Panel to create site-specific proposals for the Geneva Public Art opportunity.

Washington Square Playground Begins!
The Washington Square Playground Renovation is finally here! A product of the Let'sPlaySF!
Initiative in partnership with the San Francisco Parks Alliance, we began work at
the playground area on Monday, May 7! We look forward to re-opening the playground
in the fall of 2018. In the meantime, nearby playgrounds include Joe DiMaggio Playground
(651 Lombard Street) and Michelangelo Playground (1085 Greenwich Street) for you

Observe the magnificent Great Blue Herons and their chicks during their nesting 
season at Stow Lake on Saturdays in May and June, including this Saturday, May 12!
