Our Beloved Steam Engine Returns!
Our miniature steam train, The Little Puffer, has officially returned from its biennial restorative maintenance!  This historic train is an integral part of our history and an important part of the Zoo today. It is one of only three remaining 22-inch gauge engines left in the world, so come out and take a ride on this historic train this weekend.  At over 100 years old, Little Puffer is running in tiptop condition just in time for its upcoming 115 year anniversary celebration!

ENDANGERED SPECIES AWARENESS WEEKEND

What do black rhinos, tigers, and lowland gorillas have in common? They’re all endangered species and animals you can find at SF Zoo & Gardens!  We’re raising awareness during Endangered Species Awareness Weekend, May 19-20. SCIENCE SATURDAY CONSERVATION LECTURE

Join Conservation International's Alice Ruhweza on June 2 as she presents "Silent No More: How Women & Girls Will Speak for Planet Earth."  Alice will share stories and insights on how women and girls can become stronger leaders and save the planet.  From irreplaceable African elephants, the challenge of addressing wildlife trafficking and poaching, to being a fearless female leader and forging a new path for sustainable development.
