The AVA Technical Committee offers 5 or more trainings a year to assist in keeping our judges current with our fast-changing sport. All 16 judges and our two apprentices were in attendance at the Forum. Topics covered included additions/changes in the mechanics of scoring the Mount and Scissors, as well as the new dismount adopted by the FEI and USEF for Bronze, Silver and Junior Individuals and B Team competitors. Other sessions covered the new Technical Test exercises, how to deal with falls, Content score for Copper and below, what to look for in General Impression, Harmony with the Horse, Soundness/Fitness of the Horse, and Green Horse Class -- what feedback is useful to the trainers. In addition, a presentation was given regarding the new USEF Pathways Program and its goals. Sue Smith has been promoted to AVA "R" Judge. Sue has have been involved in the AVA since 1972.
