Dear Friends,
On the eve of Thanksgiving, I wanted to wish you all a tasty, enjoyable and reflective
holiday and offer a few words of gratitude.
I am thankful for the privilege of managing one of the best park systems in the 
nation and for all of the progress we made this year. From the transformation of
 Civic Center Plaza to a family friendly destination with the brand new Bi-Rite 
Cafe and Helen Diller Civic Center Playgrounds, to the opening of the new Geneva
 Community Garden, we have a lot to be grateful for as a Department.
I am thankful for the opportunity to work alongside dedicated colleagues who better
our parks and city, and who serve our community. Our more than 220 parks remain 
some of the best in the country, while our recreation programs and events remain
 top notch fun and exercise for kids and adults alike!
I am however, most thankful for all of you who use our parks, participate in our
 programs, volunteer your time, and advocate for your parks. Your passion is what
fuels us on a daily basis.
