October 23, 2018 AVA Nominee for USEF Youth Sportsman Award, New USEF Vaulting Pathways Program Launched, New USEF Training Grants for Lungers, AVA Election Information, Early Registration, AVA Symposium and FEI Seminar for Judges and Trainers and much more... AVA Nominee for USEF Youth Sportsman Award. ‌ The AVA is pleased to announce Calle Davis of Oak Hills Vaulters in Utah as our 2018 USEF Youth Sportsman nominee. Not only has Calle had a successful vaulting year and is a contender to represent the U.S. at the upcoming FEI Vaulting World Championships for Juniors, but she has been coaching younger vaulters at her club, while maintaining a GPA of 3.978 and enrolling in college level courses concurrently. Calle's letters of recommendations included words such as she is "full of good ideas... capable of taking constructive criticism.. very organized... dependable..." As one person said, "one of our most dependable and reliable employees.... Callie is beyond her years in so many ways. She is responsible, dedicated to her work, to her education and to her family." She learned at an early age, "the value of hard work, how to work well with others, accountability and the importance of personal integrity." Another said, "I have worked with many vaulters and trainers over the years and I can honestly say that Calle has been one of my top athletes due to her work ethic, maturity and talent for showcasing her passion in this sport." The Vaulting Sport Committee is excited to announce the USEF Vaulting Pathways Program. Individual, Squad and Pas de Deux vaulters who qualify for the Pathways Program will be invited to participate in training camps and will have access to a number of resources including online templates for setting and assessing goals, coaches training, regular meetings with the Vaulting Director of Performance, human and equine sports medicine support and priority access to training grants. If you have questions, please contact Isabelle Parker at vaultingpathways at gmail.com First USEF Pathways Training Camp for Juniors - Held in Woodside, California Oct 20 - 21. Nineteen Junior individuals and squad vaulters spent the weekend training at the Horse Park at Woodside with Daniel Kaiser, Elizabeth Osborn, Isabelle Parker, Mary McCormick and Katie Peuvrelle. The focus of the weekend was compulsories - technique, drills, fitness, mental preparation and judging basics. As Sam Matson said, “This clinic was a great jumping off point for the season. I’m feeling refocused as a coach and my vaulters walked away feeling inspired and empowered to meet new goals for the season.” Next weekend, this Training Camp will be repeated with nine more Juniors in Denver, Colorado. USEF Announces Training Grants for Lungers The USEF Vaulting Sport Committee has opened the application for Targeted Training Grants for Lungers. The purpose of the grant is to allow lungers to access specific training to improve their horses. Some possible uses of the grant funds include professional riding instruction or training, lunging instruction and registration fee for the Horse and Lungers track at the AVA Symposium in Las Vegas. Ten grants of $500 each will be available. Priority will be given to lungers of Junior and Senior individuals, squads and pas de deux planning to compete internationally in 2019. To register click here. AVA Horsemanship Test 1 is Now Available for Online Testing. Sign up for Horsemanship Level I and test online with a New and interactive testing system. The learning system will require unique emails for each participant to identify progress and passing grades. Most of the curriculum is covered in the online version of the testing, although some practical testing will still be required to test the applicants safety around horses. USEF SafeSport Requirement On August 28, 2018, US Equestrian announced a new Safe Sport rule change effective January 1, 2019, requiring that all US Equestrian adult members with a Competing Membership must complete SafeSport Core Training in order to be eligible to participate in US Equestrian activities. The SafeSport Core Training was launched by the U.S Center for SafeSport on January 1, 2018, and encompasses three modules: Sexual Misconduct Awareness Education, Mandatory Reporting, and Emotional and Physical Misconduct.   If you completed Safe Sport Training before January 1, 2018, you will need to complete the new SafeSport Core Training modules in order to maintain your compliance. USEF Competition Manager Education Course Effective December 1, 2018, USEF competition managers must complete the USEF Competition Manager Education Course.
