Of the five people who turned in statements for the SSC re-vote, here are
my recommendations for the two votes;
YES: Xiuling Zheng was enthusiastic and seemed genuinely interested in
wanting to understand more about the processes and working to make the
school better. She is also a kinder parent, so she'll be involved with the
school for a good while.
FLIP A COIN: Lenda Butcher is a former teacher who has been involved in
school issues from that side of the fence and she now has two children in
the school (one in kinder) and wants to help on the SSC as a parent.
Rose Medellin is the parent who seems to have the SFUSD handbook memorized
or mostly so and will call teachers and administrators out about it. She is
assertive, without question. She also isn't shy about letting people know
what she has done and what she wants done. It's that last part that has her
under "flip a coin." I've been on committees with people who are more in
love with their ideas rather than finding the best solutions. Her kids are
in the fourth and fifth grades which also gives me pause.
NO: Xue Ping Feng and Yin Feng Luo did not attend the meeting.
