WORLD RHINO DAY!
Join us to celebrate World Rhino Day September 22-23! We will have talks both days – 12:00 PM & 2:45 PM in front of our Black Rhino exhibit, where "Boone", our 10-year-old will receive special enrichment and you can learn what you can do to help keep the five remaining species of rhino alive. We're honored to have 2 of the 5 remaining species here at SF Zoo. Celebrate with us from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with fun activities and rhino-themed crafts.

GREAT APE PASSAGE UPDATE
We are proud to announce that our very first “aerial passage” hosted chimpanzees this week! Without a doubt, seeing “Cobby”, “Minnie” and “Maggie”, our senior chimpanzees, experience the new Jim Ludwig Passage for the first time was one of the most awe-inspiring sights many of us have witnessed at SF Zoo & Gardens! Jim Ludwig is pictured center. The passage represents Phase One of our “Great Ape Project” and is another example of animal wellness at work here at San Francisco Zoo & Gardens!

YOSEMITE COLLABORATION EXPANDS
SF Zoo & Gardens continues to collaborate with Yosemite National Park by adding a fourth species to the project! Starting this fall, SF Zoo will be rearing endangered Sierra Nevada yellow-legged frogs from several areas of the park in order to re-establish a population of frogs that went extinct due to chytrid fungus. Bringing together individuals from surrounding persisting populations of frogs, National Park biologists hope to recreate the genetic structure that once existed in the Tuolumne area. One hundred tadpoles were helicoptered out of the remote lakes and driven to SF Zoo. We are excited to continue to be an active partner in the restoration of native wildlife in Yosemite.

Come to help us welcome our favorite season... FALL! Kids will love going on an adventure in "Harvest Hallow" where they can navigate through our giant hay maze with play areas along the way and use our festive setting for photo ops. Our "Zoo Brew Haus" is perfect for all ages, with a great selection of brews, a full slate of German-inspired dishes and energetic live music at The Depot Grill. You may even want to get up and dance! Enjoy a special preview of the hay maze September 29-30.
