Let'sPlaySF Groundbreaking on April 25
Join us and the San Francisco Parks Alliance for a groundbreaking event marking 
the beginning of the next five playground renovation projects under the Let'sPlaySF!

Earth Day Celebration at the EcoCenter!
It was a double celebration at the Port of San Francisco's Heron's Head Park on 
Sunday, for the EcoCenter's 9th birthday and the annual Earth Day festivities. Attendees
helped with a habitat restoration, enjoyed free BBQ/birthday cake, toured the facility
and helped to scrape honey from bee hives, courtesy of the Planet Bee Foundation!
The event kicked off a new partnership between the Port and Rec and Parks, making
the Eco-Center an entirely City-run operation with plans to make environmental programs

Sgt. John Macaulay Park Groundbreaking
We kicked off the $3 million renovation project at Sergeant John Macaulay Park this
past Tuesday! This project is part of the Let'sPlaySF! Initiative, a partnership
 between Rec and Parks and the San Francisco Parks Alliance that seeks to inspire
creativity and play throughout the City. Thank you to everyone who came out and

Off the Grid at Don Chee Way!
Starting next Wednesday,      May 1, join Off the Grid for rotating mobile food 
selections off the eaten      track in the Embarcadero! The new location at Don 
Chee Way next to the bocce courts will occur on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 
from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m! It will feature curated mobile food offerings from creators

Hayes Valley Playground Resurfacing Meeting
Please join us and the Kevin Durant Charity Foundation (KDCF) this Friday, April
 26 beginning at 6:30 p.m. to discuss an upcoming project to renovate the basketball
court at Hayes Valley Playground. The meeting will take place at the Hayes Valley
Playground clubhouse (Hayes and Buchanan streets). KDCF is partnering with the Department
to support the court resurfacing and provide an artistic design on the new basketball
court surface. Representatives from KDCF and the artist will be on hand to present
initial artistic design plans and encourage feedback.

We Players: Undiscovered Country
Last week, We Players theatre company debuted its newest production "Undiscovered
Country" at the Sunnyside Conservatory (236 Monterey Boulevard)! This neo-western
love story is derived from Shakespeare's Hamlet. The show will run from Thursdays

Earth Month in our Parks!

Football Skills Academy at Lincoln High
Join us as we participate in a FREE football skills academy this Saturday, April
 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lincoln High School (2162 24th Avenue). This event
 will feature the head football coaches from Lincoln and Balboa High Schools, as
 well as McCleod Bethel Thompson, former Balboa and 49ers quarterback who currently
plays for the Toronto Argonauts. Thompson grew up participating in Rec and Park

Alemany Farm Earth Day Celebration!
Join Alemany Farm (700 Alemany Boulevard)
for its Earth Day Celebration from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday, April 27. This
event is free and open to the public. There will be plantings and farm chores in
 the morning before a potluck and BBQ lunch at around 1 p.m. with music from KC 
and the Moonshine Band. This family friendly event will also feature face painting
and other kids' activities throughout the day. Please bring a potluck dish to share.
