Hola Maestra,

Kelly started her ADHD medication this morning. We are taking a 'low and
slow' approach to see how she tolerates the medication. She's starting with
a very low dose of the fast-acting medication. I gave it to her about 8am,
and it's expected to "wear off" by noon. Next week, her dose will
increase, We have another doctor appointment in two weeks. If she
tolerates the medication well, we expect that she will start taking an
extended release form of the medication, which should last the entire
school day.

We need you to be aware of the possible side effects. The medication can
cause increased irritability/crankiness and loss of appetite. The former
should eventually pass, but the latter could be serious, and if it lasts
longer than a few weeks, is cause for concern. Please let us know if you
notice either of these symptoms.

If there is any other information you need, please feel free to contact me
or arrange a meeting. Thanks so much for your patience and understanding.

Regards,
--Ruth Anne Ladue
