While people outside of San Francisco are cranking up their air conditioning, we are lucky enough to be one of the only zoos in the world next to a beautiful and cool coastline! This weekend, visit SF Zoo to cool off and meet various animals up-close, touch and feel skulls and bones, and see animal demonstrations. Here’s just a sampling:
* Wildlife Theatre Shows: Enjoy a variety of ambassador animals from the Koret Animal Resource Center that will engage and educate you and your family about animal adaptations and conservation. Shows Thursday-Sunday at 1:30 pm.
* Nature Trail: Stroll along Nature Trail and interact with more than a dozen animals up close! Youth volunteers staff each animal station to deliver fun facts and conservation stories.11:00 am - 3:30 pm daily.
* Talk on the Wild Side: Learn from teen volunteers as they utilize biofacts carts all through the Zoo. Daily.
* Life on the Farm: Don’t miss the special "Life on the Farm" talk in front of the Insect Zoo  You have the chance to meet our farm animals like kune-kune pig, miniature horses and more. Thursday-Monday at 3:15!

We’re thrilled to announce the arrival of adorable 4-month-old nubian goats! The nubian goat has long, bell-shaped ears that extend an inch beyond the face and are most often black, red, or tan. You can see – and possibly touch -- them in the Fisher Family Farm. Stop by our Exploration Zone on your next visit to catch a glimpse!
Zoo's "Gardens" Receive a Fantastical Addition!

Garden Fairies have migrated to SF Zoo & Gardens! These woodland creatures can’t resist a beautiful garden, and here at the Zoo we have a wonderful selection for them to choose from. So, it was no surprise when tiny doors started to pop up in one of our newest pocket gardens, right across from the Wells Fargo Wildlife Theater. To add a little fantasy to your zoo visit, SF Zoo staff built each of these doors by hand, and their attention to detail is nothing short of magical. Next time you visit the Zoo, see if you can catch a glimpse of them!

Insect Zoo 40th BUG-iversary!

You’re invited to celebrate 40 years of the Insect Zoo, truly one of the most mesmerizing and popular places to visit at the Zoo! During our special BUG-iversary, we’ll have information tables, crafts and activities, insect meet and greets and more!  Learn about bugs and why they are crucial to our ecosystems on on Saturday, August 10-11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. We will commemorate this special occasion with cake at 1:30 p.m. while the cake lasts!
