One of our most popular annual events, March of the Penguins, returns this Saturday! Come watch our 5 adorable Magellanic penguin chicks waddle through SF Zoo to their new home on Penguin Island. This morning event celebrates the chicks' graduation from “Fish School” where they lose their fluffy down, learn to eat whole fish, swim and accept food from their human keepers. Members can come into the Zoo early at 9:30 am to get a great seat and will have the opportunity to submit a name suggestion in a raffle for one of the chicks! After the ceremony, stay as long as you’d like for the Penguin Party!

Join us for the last weekend of 90Fest, a special month-long celebration in honor of the Zoo's 90th Anniversary!  There will be live music in The Depot from 11a.m.-3 p.m. where you can enjoy an outdoor BBQ with your family and friends and stay to enjoy a dance or two. Come take a walk down memory lane and make new memories of your own!
Insect Zoo 40th Bugiversary!

You're invited to celebrate 40 years of the Insect Zoo! Originally created as a temporary exhibition in 1979, our Insect Zoo proved so popular that the Zoo made it a permanent exhibit. Over the past 40 years, it has helped teach millions of visitors the importance of biodiversity in nature and the significance of preserving entire ecosystems. Come join us to celebrate and to learn about bugs and why they are crucial components of our ecosystems on August 10 from 10 am - 3 pm.  All activities are free with paid Zoo admission and will take place in front of the Insect Zoo.
