On Saturday, June 8, more than 130 countries at more than 5,000 different locations will be celebrating Global Wellness Day, a day focused on living well. Here at SF Zoo, we consider every day as Wellness Day, as the aspect of animal wellness (ensuring that our animals are happy and healthy), is integrated in our philosophy, animal care, habitats and everything we do. Our Animal Wellness Team works to develop engaging and stimulating enrichment, learning opportunities, and behavioral conditioning, while exemplary veterinary care is provided to every individual animal.

On this Global Wellness Day, we invite you into the full indoor Lion House to see what goes on behind-the-scenes with our lions and tigers! See enrichment, husbandry and meet animal care staff from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on June 8.

* Nature Trail Opens! Stroll along Nature Trail and interact with more than a dozen animals up close! Youth volunteers staff each animal station to deliver fun facts and conservation stories.11:00 am - 3:30 pm daily.
* Talk on the Wild Side Returns! Learn from teen volunteers as they utilize biofacts carts at animal exhibits around the Zoo.

Best of the International Ocean Film Festival June 8-9

We are proud to celebrate and honor the ocean, which connects us all, with the Best of the International Ocean Film Festival (https://sfzoo.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=05b8326f4402b997fe7a097e3&id=a4a815546e&e=7683a9aed3) in the Osher Great Hall of the Lurie Education Center from 10 am - 4 pm. The five ocean-themed films (35 minutes of total viewing) aim to entertain, educate, and encourage active participation in ocean conservation. The films include The Adventures of Zack and Molly, Chiripajas, The Amazing Life Cycle of the European Eel, The Live of Wild Dolphins, and The Ocean's Message.

On your visit, you can hear how the SF Zoo Animal Care Staff cares for our own ocean animals like penguins and pelicans during our Animal Connections. In addition, our Coastal Center will be open from 1:30 pm - 4 pm with activities including viewing sea life through spotting scope and binoculars, using field guides, accessing apps for ship and shark tracking.

Once again the Golden State Warriors are in the NBA Finals and we are proud to root for our local team. Of course, in our eyes, they are the G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All Time). In celebration of the Warrior G.O.A.T.s, we invite you to come out and see our very own goats in the Family Farm!
Orangutan Passage Now Open for Limited Sneak Peeks!

For the first time in 15 years, SF Zoo & Gardens visitors have the opportunity to see orangutans! 16-year old female Judy is adventurously exploring her new habitat and overhead passageways to the delight of visitors. She was hand-raised after being rejected by her mom, so she is very social and interactive with animal care staff and enjoys learning through enrichment sessions with her caretakers. 9-year old male Berani (a Malay name meaning “brave” and “courageous”) appears to need a bit more time in his new enclosure to live up to his name. We expect he will become more curious and interactive with Judy as he becomes more accustomed to his habitat.
