This weekend we are celebrating everything rainbow in honor of SF Pride!  The natural world is filled with vibrant colors, from insects and flowers to birds and tigers. You are invited to visit this weekend to learn how color affects the ways animals behave and see potential mates. Keep your eye out for the SF Zoo float in the SF Pride Parade this Sunday!

Red, White, and Zoo: Celebrating 90 Years!

Celebrate Red, White, and Zoo with us from July 4-7! Come to listen to live music in The Depot where you can enjoy an outdoor BBQ with your family and friends and stay to enjoy a dance or two.

The Fourth of July weekend also kicks off 90 Fest, a special month-long celebration in honor of the Zoo's 90th Anniversary. Every weekend in July, learn about our history on a self-guided tour or with a visit to a special historical display in the Pachyderm Building.  In addition, guests can zip through the Zoo on a 30-foot-high zip line starting July 5, and operating on weekends from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come take a walk down memory lane and make new memories of your own!

*On Friday, July 5, the Zoo is open for extended hours until 7 p.m. Meet Q102 DJ Billy Vidal from 5-7 p.m. mixing music and hosting games for prizes!
90 Years of Hanging Out

Come hang out with us this summer! Enter to win a perfect summer hang out for your child, a spot in one of our Little Learners (18 months – 3 ½ year olds + 1 adult) or Animal Adventures (3 – 5 year olds + 1 adult) classes. These year-round classes, filled with music, crafts, games, and an education animal visitor, are an exciting way to jump, hop, and skip through the animal kingdom. To enter, please email toddlers at sfzoo.org with your name, your child’s age, and email address. Names will be compiled and winners drawn each week during the month of June.

March of the Penguins Returns July 27!

Our five penguin chicks are currently in Fish School where they lose their fluffy down, become more familiar with their animal caretakers, and learn to swim!  We celebrate the conclusion of Fish School with March of the Penguins, which will take place on Saturday, July 27! Members can come into the Zoo early at 9:30 am to get a perfect seat! This year is a special one as we also celebrate the 35th anniversary of Penguin Island, which became home to penguins in 1984. We look forward to celebrating with you!

Summer Programming is Under Way!

* Wildlife Theatre Shows Return! Enjoy a variety of ambassador animals from the Koret Animal Resource Center that will engage and educate you and your family about animal adaptations and conservation. Shows Thursday-Sunday at 1:30 pm.
* Nature Trail Now Open! Stroll along Nature Trail and interact with more than a dozen animals up close! Youth volunteers staff each animal station to deliver fun facts and conservation stories.11:00 am - 3:30 pm daily.
* Talk on the Wild Side Returns! Learn from teen volunteers as they utilize biofacts carts at animal exhibits daily around the Zoo.
* Life on the Farm.  Don’t miss the special Life on the Farm talk in front of the Insect Zoo Thursday-Monday at 3:15! You have the chance to meet our farm animals like kune-kune pig, miniature horses and more.
