Welcome Our New Komodo Dragon!

Meet Xena, our new six-year-old female Komodo dragon. Komodo dragons are the world’s largest lizard and are found in Indonesia. You can find Xena exploring her newly-renovated 2,950 square-foot habitat, Komodo Crossing, adjacent to the Asian one-horned rhinoceros and wolverine exhibits. Curious and a bit gregarious, Xena has been seen climbing up to look out the viewing windows, and getting eye to eye with young visitors! We are excited to welcome her as our new ambassador for this Vulnerable species!

In honor of Star Wars Day, wear a Star Wars costume to the Zoo and receive free admission on Saturday, May 4! Legend has it that one of our chimpanzees, Tallulah, inspired the character Yoda, with her expressive face (and pointy ears!), so we are certainly partial to this powerful Jedi! Dress up as your favorite Star Wars character, and please be mindful of masks.

Scampering around are four new prairie dog pups that have just emerged from their underground nurseries in the Exploration Zone and we need your help naming them! We are looking for your favorite springtime-themed names to name these four adorable additions. Kids will delight in learning animal words and simple expressions in the 5 party languages of their choice (German, French, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish and English) via storytelling, music, paper crafting and the very latest in paper electronics! Join us in the Wildlife Theater on May 18 to celebrate the magic!
