Orangutan Passage Now Open for Limited Sneak Peeks!

The exciting new Orangutan Passage, part of the Great Ape Passage, is open for special sneak peeks of our newest residents - Bornean orangutans!  Very shortly, we hope to have our new pair, nine-year-old male, Berani, and 16-year-old female, Judy, together and in their outdoor habitat, Orangutan Gardens. You can also see our chimpanzee troop both in the indoor dayroom or in their outdoor habitat on select days.

Pictured here is Judy, navigating the 48-foot long and 14-foot high mesh-covered crossover passageway. Orangutans, one of Southeast Asia's keystone species, are in serious decline as their rainforest habitat is lost due to deforestation. The plight of wild orangutans is an important story for us to tell and we are thrilled to welcome the new pair to help connect guests to better understand and support this species efforts to survive.

* Nature Trail Opens! Stroll along Nature Trail and interact with more than a dozen animals up close! Youth volunteers staff each animal station to deliver fun facts and conservation stories.11:00 am - 3:30 pm daily.
* Wildlife Theatre Shows! Enjoy a variety of ambassador animals from the Koret Animal Resource Center that will engage and educate you and your family about animal adaptations and conservation. Shows daily at 1:30 pm.
* Talk on the Wild Side Returns! Learn from teen volunteers as they utilize biofacts carts at animal exhibits around the Zoo.

New Adopt-an-Animal Packages!

In celebration of our 90th Anniversary, we added 14 new species to our Adopt-an-Animal program, and we can’t wait for these animals to start finding new adopters.
