San Francisco Fleet Week from October 6 to 14
Fleet Week is back in San Francisco, running through Monday, October 14. Our parks
will host a number of these events, from the big air show and parade of ships at

Scaregrove on October 25
Scaregrove, our spooktacular Halloween event, returns to Stern Grove (19th Avenue
and Sloat Boulevard), on Friday, October 25 from 3 to 9 p.m. This year's event will
feature a costume contest and parade, haunted houses, carnival rides, food for sale,
live entertainment and more! $10 per person; children under 2 are free!
Dress up in your costumes and join the fun! (Please, family-friendly costumes only.
No backpacks and no weapons, including toy/costume weapons.)

Expedition Unknown: Cracking The Secret
Last week, an episode of Expedition Unknown debuted on the Discovery Channel, covering
a nationwide treasure hunt based on the book, "The Secret." Show host Josh Gates

Court Reservation System Expands Citywide
Tennis, anyone? We're pleased to announce that we've added 12 tennis complexes to
our pilot tennis court online reservation system for tennis and pickleball play.
 The expansion allows people to reserve more courts citywide, while increasing the

Jr. Warriors Registration on October 10
With basketball season around the corner, individual registration for the Jr. Warriors
Basketball League begins on Thursday, October 10 at 10 a.m. Boys and girls ages 
4-14 will learn the proper fundamentals of team basketball, while also playing games
against other kids in their age group. Harvey Milk Community Meeting on October 10
The Harvey Milk Photo Center (50 Scott Street) is hosting its second community meeting
on Thursday, October 10 from 6 to 7 p.m. to discuss the possibility of naming the
film processing center the David Johnson Film Processing Lab and to create a reference
and reading library in the lobby of the photo center. David Johnson is local photographer
known for his photographs of San Francisco's Fillmore District in the 1940s and 
1950s. Be sure to swing by and share your opinion!

We Are the City Family Summits in October
The Department of Children, Youth and Their Families (DCYF) is hosting a series 
of family summits near you to discuss its five-year planning process on how the 
City will invest in programs and services for young people. The first will take

SF City Guides' Historical Tours of GGP

Shoreview Park Celebration October 16
Join us for a groundbreaking ceremony and community day to celebrate the start of
construction on the Shoreview Park renovation project. The event will take place
 on Wednesday, October 16 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the park (1 Lillian Court) and will
feature lawn games, Zumba, refreshments and a speaking program. The planned improvements
to the park include a new playground, picnic area, landscaping, lighting and pathways.
