Kia ora everybody! Welcome to our September CoNZealand newsletter. The 2019 Dublin WorldCon has been and gone, with thanks to all the staff and volunteers involved. It’s now full steam ahead for 2020 in Wellington. So, what’s going on with CoNZealand this month?

** Accessible accommodation reminder
------------------------------------------------------------
A friendly reminder that we’d like to hear from anyone with accessible accommodation needs by 15 October 2019.  You can let us know by emailing access-hotels at conzealand.nz (mailto:access-hotels at conzealand.nz) with details of your hotel accessibility requests and an indication of the number of nights you think you will be staying as well.

Please also make sure your membership information is up to date by logging in here (https://conzealand.us20.list-manage.com/track/click?u=c4c533d6e0a3fc9f6d1d6e0bc&id=ab6e69f9f2&e=7e564106bd) and logging in with the email you registered with - go to 'Review memberships' and click 'review or update details', then scroll down to the Additional Options of your registration information, and tick the box by “I would like information on disability or accessibility services at CoNZealand”.

** The price rise is near

As reported last month, attending adult membership fees are going up from $400 to $425 on 1 October 2019. If you know anybody on the fence about signing up, tap them on the shoulder and direct them to the registration page (https://conzealand.us20.list-manage.com/track/click?u=c4c533d6e0a3fc9f6d1d6e0bc&id=ff1e155e41&e=7e564106bd) . Membership gets you entry to all five days of CoNZealand, and an installment plan is available—lock in a lower price today.

While you’re tapping friends on the shoulder, we’re still looking for volunteers! If you have any friends you think might be interested, direct them to this signup form (https://conzealand.us20.list-manage.com/track/click?u=c4c533d6e0a3fc9f6d1d6e0bc&id=a9bd2788f4&e=7e564106bd) .

** CoNZealand Facebook community group
------------------------------------------------------------
We’ve set up a new community group (https://conzealand.us20.list-manage.com/track/click?u=c4c533d6e0a3fc9f6d1d6e0bc&id=e7fbbca015&e=7e564106bd) on Facebook for CoNZealand members. The group is a shared space for members and supporters to chat and share information as we count down the months to the big event next year, similar to one that was created for the 2019 Dublin Worldcon.

Any CoNZealand member can join the group - simply click ‘Join’ and answer the three questions (which help weed out the bots and spammers). We’ve set up some simple community rules to help make sure it’s a safe, enjoyable space for all, and will support the group by moderating where necessary, but overall this is a place for members, while our official Facebook page will be the main CoNZealand presence and information source.

** Tell us your programming suggestions!

Do you have an idea for a programme item you've always wanted to see at Worldcon? We can’t wait to hear from you!

** September conflab

If you’re in Wellington and want to have a yarn with fellow CoNZealand crew or are interested in volunteering, find out more about what’s in the planning, or even just get a drink or two in good company, we’re having a meetup (https://conzealand.us20.list-manage.com/track/click?u=c4c533d6e0a3fc9f6d1d6e0bc&id=bdd22bd1b6&e=7e564106bd) at Foxglove Bar & Kitchen on Queens Wharf, 23 September, 5:30–7pm. Our Tech Division Head, John Maizels is joining us - coming all the way Australia, now that’s dedication to the cause!

CoNZealand 2020 seems pretty far down the road, but there’s a lot of work to do in the next ten months. Together, we’re going to make the 78th World Science Fiction Convention one to remember.
