Happy Earth Day from SF Rec and Park! Though our typical Earth Day activities and
celebrations have been disrupted by the current crisis, we're grateful to our staff
and volunteers who have rolled up their sleeves this year to help keep our parks

Dispatcher Appreciation Week
We recently celebrated the park system's unsung heroes, our dispatchers, during 
National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. Our hard working dispatchers answer
your calls and serve as a lifeline to our park rangers, quickly directing them to
people who need their help. We celebrate and thank them for their dedicated service,
especially during this unprecedented time of COVID-19.

GGP Virtual Concert Series Adds Special Livestream Performances for Kids & Families
to Line-Up
On Saturday, April 25 at 9 a.m., Latin Grammy Award-Winning musician, author, activist,
and educator, MISTER G, will unite children and families around the world as part
of a special Earth Day and 150th anniversary of Golden Gate Park concert. This live
streaming event will incorporate musical performances and tributes by notable Bay
Area musicians, including Michael Franti and Narada Michael Walden. The concert 
will feature MISTER G's "Mundo Verde/Green World" kids music video. Viewers will
 also embark on a virtual exploration of the park to discover the iconic windmills,

Emergency Childcare for Healthcare Workers, First Responders and Disaster Service
Workers
We're offering free emergency care at 25 sites citywide for the children of health
workers, first responders and other essential city workers on the front lines of
 the fight against COVID-19. Rec and Park staff provides a variety of indoor and
 outdoor activities for kids in grades K-8, including exercise, art and STEM projects.
The Department of Children, Youth and their Families (DCYF) has arranged for three
meals a day for all participants. Other city agencies, including the Department 
of Emergency Management (DEM), the Department of Human Resources (DHR), the Public
Library, and the Office of Early Care and Education (OECE), have played integral
 roles in the rollout of the program.
