“Shelter in Place” has impacted our lives in so many ways, but the mission of the San Francisco Zoological Society -- to connect, care and conserve wildlife — remains the same. Although our gates may be closed, we continue to feed and care for our nearly 2000 animals, many of which are endangered or rescued, as well as prepare our zoological park and gardens for your return with social distancing and other protocols in place.

While we temporarily have closed our gates and cancelled “gala-type" fundraisers, we look for alternative ways to engage and seek your support during these difficult times.   We thus introduce our first ever "On-Line Auction for Animal Care”!  Now through May 4th, you have the opportunity to bid on a range of unique items, many of them not available for purchase anywhere else in the world!

Just in time for Mother’s Day, you could win the opportunity to name our newest female gorilla or baby mandrill after the mom of your choice!  Or bid on the chance to spend a day shadowing our veterinary teams!  If animals in art are more your speed, bid on a range of animal-themed items, from custom jewelry to handmade quilts to one-of-a-kind artwork.   And as we look to the post-COVID world, we have options ranging from exclusive Winery tours to day trips and overnight experiences in the Bay Area and beyond.

For those of you who prefer to support our animals directly through our Fund A Need program (all donations here are 100% tax deductible), you can provide fish for our penguins or grizzly bears, treat balls for our giraffes, straw bedding for our big cats, exercise wheels for our chinchillas, chewsticks for our porcupines, and even hoof manicures for our barnyard animals!
