Updates, news and events in San Francisco parks State Updates Stay at Home Order to Allow Playgrounds to Reopen We're excited to share that playgrounds will officially reopen tomorrow, December 10, 2020 after an amendment of the statewide order that closed them Sunday. We look forward to seeing the City's children playing safely in their neighborhood playgrounds again! Thank you to Governor Newsom and Mayor Breed for making this decision based on both science and equity and prioritizing the wellbeing of families. San Francisco remains under the regional stay at home order, which means you can visit a playground, but only with members of your own household. Everyone over 2 must wear a mask at all times, practice social distancing, and comply with capacity limits. This is not a time to schedule playdates or meet others at the playground. This decision reflects that playgrounds are essential spaces for children with established benefits to their physical and mental health. Allowing for their use is comparable to the health order allowing park usage for adults to get exercise and fresh air. They will remain open for use with capacity limits, hand sanitizing stations, and requirements for masks and social distancing. Follow the rules to stay safe! · Do not visit a playground with anyone not in your household. Do not arrange playdates. · Limit visits to 30 minutes when others are present. · Visitors of all ages must stay 6 feet away from non-household members. · Everyone 2 and older must wear masks. · Do not eat or drink at the playground. · If it’s crowded, come back later or choose a different playground. · Clean your hands before and after playing. · Adults must actively supervise children at all times. Children 2 and under must be within arm’s reach. · To maximize the number of children who can play, only one adult may accompany each child. Playground Safety Rules Entwined to Open December 10 Entwined, a highly anticipated outdoor public art installation in Golden Gate Park, will open tomorrow, December 10. While San Francisco is currently under a regional stay at home order, parks and open spaces are essential to the public and will remain open for use. This means you can still go to the park and view Entwined, but only with members of your own household. Everyone must wear a mask at all times and practice social distancing. No tickets or reservations are required for this installation. What we’re doing to keep you safe: Ambassadors will be onsite after sundown to ensure social distancing. Lights will turn off at 9:45 p.m. to ensure compliance with the 10 p.m. curfew. Rangers will conduct outreach as necessary. Entwined may periodically go dark for short periods to prevent crowding. Entwined is outdoors and spread out over an acre of open space. However, consider employing one of these strategies while San Francisco remains in the purple tier: Delay your visit: Entwined will be in Golden Gate Park at least through February and will remain free. Consider visiting when the Covid-19 surge has subsided. If it’s crowded, come back later: Entwined is just one stop in an illuminated journey along JFK Drive. Visit San Francisco’s official holiday tree a short stroll away or take a picture in front of the lit up façade of the Conservatory of Flowers. Travel a little further to the music concourse to find a wonderland of festive lights on the Observation Wheel and Spreckels Temple of Music.
