Celebrate the holidays this year with an illuminated Golden Gate Park Happy Holidays from Rec & Park! The Recreation and Park Department would like to wish you a happy holidays. Though this holiday season, and year, look a lot different than usual, enjoy this 2020 take on a classic holiday jingle courtesy of the Young People's Teen Musical Theatre Company. For the holidays, we invite you to visit Golden Gate Park, both in person and virtually, to view our free holiday lights! No tickets or reservations required. At the entrance to the park and along John F. Kennedy Drive, find three festive installations: San Francisco’s “official” holiday tree in front of McLaren Lodge, lit for the 91st year; “Entwined,” an otherworldly art installation in Peacock Meadow; and the kinetic light show on the Conservatory of Flowers’s iconic visage. From there, stroll to the Music Concourse to view the twinkling lights of the 150-foot-high Observation Wheel and the illuminated Spreckels Temple of Music and Bandshell. Entwined lights will turn off at 8:30 p.m. to ensure compliance with the 10 p.m. curfew. As the most popular of the park's light features, please make sure to not crowd, keep your visit to 15 minutes, and follow health guidelines. If it’s crowded, come back later, as this is just one stop in the illuminated journey along JFK Drive. These light installations are a part of Golden Gate Park's 150th anniversary celebration.
