K2C Bank Days were a Huge Success Record number of over 100 students and families dropped in at four bank branches on Saturday, December 7th & 14th. With the help of our awesome volunteers, we were able to answer questions and assist first timers in making their initial deposit. On Your Mark, Get Set, Draw!  K2C Art Contest 2018-2019 Winner: Julia, Alvarado Elementary School The 3rd Annual K2C 5th Grade Art contest is just around the corner! This is a chance a chance for your 5th grader to earn money for their K2C account. This year’s theme is “ Changing the World with K2C”. Each school will select one winner who will receive a $25 scholarship and a chance to compete for one of three city-wide scholarships of $100, $200, or $300. Schools must submit their winning entry by 5:00pm February 28, 2020. Click here for more information. Attention all SFUSD 7th Graders! 7th Grade Poetry Contest Joining the 3rd annual K2C 5th Grade Art contest is our new 6th-8th Grade Poetry contest! It’s a chance for your 6th through 8th graders to earn early college scholarships. This year’s theme is “Changing the World.” Each school will select one school winner who will receive a K2C scholarship and a chance to compete as a city-wide winner of up to $500 in additional scholarships. K2C School Ambassador and Family Liaison for Spring Valley Elementary School and Garfield Elementary School, Selina, coordinated school deposit days for both schools. Did You Know.. By 2018, more than 65 Children's Savings Account programs serving nearly a half-million children are operating around the country, including in Boston, New York, and St. Louis. Launched in 2011, K2C is a pioneer of Children's Savings Accounts. Ask a Student! Anyone can encourage a child's aspirations. We’ll provide a suggested question each month that you can ask students you know! This Month's Question: What do you want to know about college? Question of the Month What’s a school deposit day? Some schools take K2C deposits on site. Students are encouraged to bring their money to school on a select date where school staff along with volunteers, act as “bankers” taking student deposits. The funds are taken to the bank on behalf of students by volunteers or K2C partners. These events can be a part of college and career week or rallies. Contact K2C at K2C at sfgov.org to organize a School Deposit day at your school. We Raised $1,613 in ONE Day! K2C participated in the 1:1 Fund’s #GivingTuesday Campaign, which matched each donation, up to $500 each. In just one day, we raised $1,613!
