Saving Australian Wildlife Together!

SF Zoo is honored to be home to various ambassadors of Australian wildlife* and heartbroken to learn of the devastating impact on their kin in Australia. For the month of January, SF Zoo is directing its conservation fund to the rescue, care, and recovery of wildlife in Australia. Join instructor Mark Simmons to develop your drawing skills; participants will learn the basics and visit the Zoo to sketch real-life animal models. Audubon Christmas Bird Count @ SF Zoo!
In San Francisco on December 27th, nearly 200 Bay Area birders with the Golden Gate Audubon Society took part in what’s considered the largest and oldest citizen science project in the world. The annual event draws more than 70,000 volunteer bird counters across the Western hemisphere in 2,300 locations, to track the health of bird populations. SF Zoo was honored to host bird counters during the early morning hours, and the highlight of our bird count was a great view of our resident red-breasted sapsucker! Come spot him yourself!
