Due to the increased threat of wildfire in our state, PG&E is enhancing and expanding efforts to reduce wildfire risks and keep our customers and communities safe. This includes turning off power for safety if severe weather threatens the electric system, also known as a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS).
While turning off power can prevent wildfires, it may also disrupt lives and include risks for those who need power for medical equipment. That is why we have made it even easier for eligible customers to join the Medical Baseline program, which provides lower energy rates and additional notifications for PSPS events.

Apply for Medical Baseline program
Due to COVID-19 shelter-at-home requirements and changing medical practitioner priorities, signature by a qualified medical practitioner is not currently required to qualify. Certification may be required to remain on the program for more than one year.
Medical Baseline Program assistance includes:
Lower rates on your monthly energy bill
Households with Medical Baseline customers receive more energy at a lower rate.

Medical Baseline households receive extra alerts leading up to, and during PSPS events. PG&E will also attempt live check-ins if we are unable to reach you.
